No bows for boys? Our rescue Yorkie, Baxter, has been with us for about 6 weeks now and is fitting in and learning so much. I am thinking about taking him to a groomer rather than trying to keep doing it myself...my husband says: "No bows for boys" but I want to let his hair grow for awhile and don't want it hanging in his eyes. Do you pull back your boys' hair in a top knot or something? |
I always keep Couver's hair up and he occasionally will wear a bow. I think top knots and bows are perfectly acceptable for bows. They make very cute boy bows nowadays :D |

Lots of Boy Yorkies wear bows! |
My Husband doesnt want me putting bows in our boys hair either he said thats why he also got me a female so I could put them in her hair so maybe you could talk your husband into getting you a female |
My Pistol wears his hair up every day. We put a bow in every once and a while. There are some very nice manly bows out there. |
Too, funny. My hunny and I were just discussing this last night. He doesn't want me to put a bow on Mambo. I think they're cute and he's getting one, or some. |
Bandanas for boys Bows for girls! I remember the first time Troy was groomed the groomer put a bow in! I about died. I understand that they have some very nice boy bows out there, but I still think they're girlie. I have combed and trained Troy's hair to lay toward the rear of his head instead of poking in his eyes. |
My boy wears a bow! (only manly bows course...) If he doesn't have a bow he usually has a band to keep his hair out of his eyes. |
I saw a boy yorkie the other day. He had the long hair for show, but to keep the hair out of his face he had this braid and it fell down the side of his neck. I must admit it looked awesome |
Louis wears his hair in a topnot, and sometimes he wears masculine colored bows. LOL! :p You know, blue, red, green....:) |
A large percentage of my bow customers are boys! Husbands and boyfriends seem to think that you are going to put a pink frilly bow in their hair. LOL Once they see "manly" bows with footballs, etc. they are usually fine with it. |
No bows for my boys!!!! Snickers has never worn a top knot or a bow. I tried the top knot once and he pawed it out immediately. Also, all the clothes I buy for him are all so boyish, that bows would not go. He has a few vests that are gorgeous from Fairytail Fashions that have bows on them, but that's the extent we will go with bows. I like camo, skulls, and bones, sailor, cowboy types clothing for my boys--bows don't go:)!! My new boy Reesie (I know-not such a boyish name-but oh well!!:D) will not wear bows either. I do however think that they look super cute....once when Snick got groomed, he came home in a bow and he and my husband were not happy. Snick looked at me like "Get this thing out of my hair Momma so I can go outside and mark something!!" LOL!!!! Happy new year- Snick & Viv |
Beamer says he wouldn't be caught dead without his BowBiz bow in. He has a bow in every day. Of course he won't wear pink or "fru fru" colours. He has a nice assortment of manly bows. We do get comments from some friends when they visit,as Lil Bit, our female Yorkie, is kept in a puppy coat and doesn't have a top knot (Now, she likes bandanas), and Beamer, our male, always has a bow in. Some people assume Beamer is the female and Lil Bit the male. But Lil Bit has a cottony coat so it is easier for her to be in a puppy cut, and Beamer has a siky coat, and he is almost in full Yorkie coat. |
I love topknots on Yorkies, and it doesn't matter if they are a boy or a girl, after all, in the show ring all Yorkies are required to wear a bow. Men wear bow ties, why can't male yorkies wear bows? With skin-kids you have to worry about warping their identities, not so with fur-kids, other dogs won't tease him if he's wearing a bow! Start with just a band, and let him get use to that, and gradually he'll get use to wearing bows, but you put the bow over the band, don't use the bow to make the topknot. By the way, some of us call them ninja knots, instead of topknots! :p |
