we've gone to Hobby Lobby or Michaels and Home Depot and Lowes and of course all the pet supply stores and bake shops. most of the plaza in KC is now dog friendly as are zona rosa area and many new outdoor malls. no restaurants but you can go on the patio in summertime. when Bentley gets his therapy training done he'll be going EVERYWHERE for practice and because he's a working dog. |
I've taken Bella into Target Supercenter. There are no signs that says "No dogs" so I thought, why not? She does have a puppy purse I put her in, but its one of those ones where her head sticks out. The first time I took her, I even returned a crate at guest relations and the lady behind the desk kept saying "aww" and petting her! So far no one's said anything |
Academy let me take Rosie in with me. Also, Atwoods and Gellco. And of course the pet stores, banks, and our local movie rental. I would take her everywhere if they would let me. I haven't been told to leave yet because of her. Thank goodness. I can tell them that my furbaby is probably cleaner than some of the people they see in the stores!! :p |
Hobby Lobby is very animal friendly! My local store is disappointed whenever I go there without my pups! I also take them to the mall and have never had a problem. They have been in Dillards, Macys, Coach and Bath and Body Works...no complaints. Target and Walmart...no go...I think it is because of the food. When I lived in NJ, I was asked to leave the mall with my pups...I think it depends on the area. |

Another thing that a friend told me is to tell them you are going to get portraits done. I have never been stopped, so never used that one; but I imagine it would work...unless the security guy decided to escort you. hah |

Good idea! I have been asking permission. I haven't been told no yet but I may get upset when the day comes. Lol! I need a bag that looks like a purse and now a stroller. My husband loves me being on yorkietalk! :p Time to spend his money! |

Shopping Sprocket and I go shopping everywhere except the grocery store and walmart, I don't shop target so it doesn't matter there (I can't bring my dog, they do't want my $$), I find that even in the BIG malls and outlet centers, nobody cares as long as you are respectful of their store, their stuff. Sprocket is either in his stroller or I carry him, if someone says anything about him I just say "he's my shopper, he goes everywhere" or "he makes a lot less fuss than the TWO LEGGED kind of kid" and other good one to use is " he costs less to take than the DH". I have never had any questions. Of course I never let him down, I am afraid someone would step on him or a kid would try to "pet" him  ugh. And in small shops, I get oh soooo cute!!! The more expensive the shop, the cuter the dog, who knew?? And as ladyjane said don't ask permission, just do it. Nobody like to be left home or in the car, my comment to DH. I know, I'm not nice. :D |
Got kicked out several times Well...I've been kicked out from Joann's Fabric, Walmart, and (believe it or not) at the mall. They said that I can't have dogs touching the ground (on a leash). Of course, there was one time that I brought my babies to a mall where they were allowed on a leash and a boy came and kicked Carmel! So, I am going to get a stroller for them so they will be protected and will be easier for me to care for them. Plus, Carmel ALWAYS goes bazookas when he sees other people...can't control his friendliness. Thus, I'm hesitant to bring them to stores with me because I get embarrassed when I get asked to leave. Places so far that I know do NOT allow pets (in CA): -Bank of America (so I will be switching bank soon) -Wlamart -Joann's Fabric -Target -Hammer Museum -theme parks (which sucks!, but they do have kennels for them) |

The karate dojo and gymnastics is never a problem. Farrah pees all over Petco and another pet store we frequent. Thank Goodness Petco has the supplies to clean up. I no longer put her down at the pet stores. On a similar thread to this in the past, someone mentioned they take their furbaby to the movies! Too funny. I remember they said they had a Qwiggy-Bo bag that looks like a purse. |
Not a lot of places here in England allow you to bring your dog inside, its usually guide dogs only. The only places that do allow it usually are pet stores and some pubs that dont serve food. I have sneaked Poppy into my local supermarket and shopping mall in her carrier though, and nobody told me to get out. She is also allowed in local stores such as the video store and the post office. :) |
I take Andy in every store that does not have food in it. Like the grocery store. Other than that Andy loves to go shopping |
First time I went to target with Layla they shooed me out. She was carried in which was dumb of me but I didn't know better. I told them id put her in the doggy bag but they still refused so I left. Since then ive fine to various malls and walk right in with Layla and not one has said a thing. And I go out with her A LOT. I went to walmart the other day and walked right in carrying Layla. I walked by various employees and none said a thing until I was near the cashiers. She just told me she couldn't have the dog inside but didn't shoo me out...just kind if mentioned it. Since then ive gone again to both walmart and target with her but shes in the doggy bag at all times. :) |
