Bailey obsessed with pool 2 Attachment(s) So does anyone else have a Yorkie/ Biewer obsessed with water? Mine loves our pool and can't stay out of it. It really worried me since we live in fl. and have a lot of drowing here. My husband made her a little ramp to get out because she is to little to get out on her own. We watch her of course but if she sneaks out when my son goes out I was afraid she would fall in an drown, she is a good swimmer but still she can't get out she is too short. What other things are available? We just made this for her. |
Have you considered putting up a fence of some kind around the pool? |
We have a lani around it but she is sneaky. lol I watch her of course we just made it for extra saftey measure. |
Tried to post pic of lani didn't show up sorry. |
Wow !!! Quote:
None of my jump in our pool, they do run around it all the time. They stop and look in , but so far none have jump in. I guess u will need a few ramps at least two , one at each side , so she won't have to swim far. bark@ulater!!!! manina, miley:aimeeyorkmax:aimeeyork |
That is what I told my Hubby. It only cost 15.00 to make that one. The top of her back only measures 4 inches that is why she can't get out without it. My pool lady thought I was nuts! lol I told her saftey first. I think it makes it harder for her to clean it....:aimeeyork |
Your pool look so inviting. I'm stuck up here in the snow. Can't help out with the whole pool dilemma but the ramp looks like a great idea. I've seen ramps for pets for pools in the skymall catalog. They have their catalog online too. Enjoy that sunshine and refreshing pool. |
I thought about a pool alarm but she doesn't make enough wave lol. Besides the jets make more of a wave than she does. It is cold here now. Can't wait until the weekend it is supposed to get back up to the 80s. Today it is in the 60's ((((shiver)))) |
I hope it gets that warm too! Your little girl is beautiful. I thought about putting a pool alarm in also, but agree that they don't make much of a splash. Ally has fallen in quite a few times, with the first time sinking to the bottom. She just hates the water, whether it's the pool, bath, or raining. Tia hasn't fallen in, but is hesitant about the pool. She does love the lawn sprinklers though and isn't concern too much about rain. The sprinklers are her own personal water park! It's hysterical to watch. I thought about the fence around it too, but decided not too. My babies are so small, they are never too far from me anyways. I did purchase a tiny lifejacket to teach Ally how to swim. Good luck and be careful; my pool water is pretty cold and I'm not too far from you. Ally was actually adopted from Ft Pierce. I just love your babies coloring! Beautiful. |
3 Attachment(s) 60s, shiver! LOL Its in the 20s here! My boys LOVE our pool! They are in it from early may to late Sept! They are usually the first ones swimming for the season and the last ones at the end of the season! hahaha Its really cute! Our pool is fenced in and the dogs have to get downstairs to get outside, there is literally like 8 barriers they'd have to break through to get to the pool unattended. So far so good. The first thing I did was teach them where the stairs were so they knew when they jumped in, where to go to get out. That worked out well. I got them lifejackets and they wear them in the pool way more often than not. If i'm right there in the pool with them I may not put them on, but 95% of the time they wear them around the pool area. They will jump in and they love to play with the kids and they fall in a lot because they get too close to the edge. So I have to keep a really close eye on them. They really love it though! Here are some pics! |
Your going to have to be very careful with your yorkie with a pool in the back I would never leave her out by it alone. You also need to get a scamp ramp |
She swims well. I have her close to me too but I also have a 2 other dogs that would never go in the water but love to run around it. They are bigger like 8 lb and can lean over and get a drink. she falls in when she tries that. lol My pool is too cold too. Bailey still climbs down on her little ramp and gets her drink then RUNS back up it like it is her favorite toy. It makes her feel so Big. I think I will take the advice given earlier and make another one for the other end of the pool too. I can't wait until it is warm enough to swim with her. Your little baby is so cute too. We live in ft. myers where are you located?:animal36 |
Celstu1 I love your pics. I can't wait to play in the pool with her! |
1 Attachment(s) We're in Palm Bay. I watch my babies close in the back yard. They can't reach the water, but do get close to look in. They love to chase the frogs around the pool that fall in! I'm trying to teach both how to swim so they know how to get out in an emergency. I will have to get a ramp too, but they don't go in on purpose. Ally turns 2 years on the 31st at 3lbs 2oz and Tia will turn one year three weeks later at a little over 5 lbs (she won't stop growing). Living in Florida, we have too many hazards to leave these babies alone in a fence-in back yard: opossums, racoons, poison frogs, hawks, buzzards (one tried to get Ally), squirrels (if they finally catch them), snakes (almost got one), and pool. |
I hear you, we also live on the water. I always watch her close around that, it is not like the pool, I don't want to have to jump in that cold water to get her out. I would of couse but I don't wanna. Beautiful to lood at and Kayak on it yes, swim I don't think so this is fla. and it is the Caloosahatche. Any water in Florida could have a gator in it. |
