i would say around 7 or 8 months old.. lexi is 7 months and she sleeps kinda through the nite... it get better, trust me... i had a hard time getting sleep too... it drove me nuts... |
I forget, but it seems like Kacee has been sleeping until I wake up for a couple of months now, but she has always slept in the bed, too. She'll be seven months old the 9th.:) |
LOL Sleep! Whats that??? Princess goes to sleep and wakes up at 3:00 AM just for a 15 min. tummy rub! I get up at 5 every morning, so she gets up with me then, but 3:00 for a tummy rub!!!!! This has been going on for two years..... Yorkies!! Gotta Love Them! :D |
My babies sleep with us & they have always slept through the night. We have never had any problems. At the beginning they did get up to go potty. |
well i guess that i am pretty lucky...Dollar wakes up one time during the night to go out but other than that he sleeps all the way from 9-5:45 (when i wake up) |
Sango always sleeps thru the night with me. She doesn't get up until I or my fiance gets up. And sometimes she stays in bed when though we are up! :p When she was younger she did get up a few times to go potty in the middle of the night now. But I've had no problems. |
They are like human babies, each one is different. Cowboy has slept through the night with no accidents since he was 9 weeks old. Yes, it is true. Now my 5 month old pups sleep through the night, however, they still don't mind making messes in their crates every now and then....mostly Mercedes. |
I think a lot of it depends on what we inadvertently train them to do. My Susan sleeps all night and has since about 4 1/2 months. But Mom's Little Bit (Susan's litter mate) gets up a time or two in the middle of the night. I think (but can't possibly really know, of course) that that is because Little Bit lives with my parents and their older dog, Maggie. Maggie has ALWAYS gotten up and gone out in the middle of the night. Since she was about 6 months old (she's now a little over 6 years) she has just gone outside and sniffed the air then come back in. However, when Mom and Dad are out of town and Maggie stays with us, she sleeps all night because we're NOT doing the recreational outside-in-the-middle- of-the-night thing and she knows it. |
Both of mine slept through the night since they were about 3 months old. It was when they were little babies that they would get up in the middle of the night. It sounds like yours has a set timetable. |

Btw, they start sleeping through the night the minute you let them sleep WITH you....kidding...but we (or me anyway) finally got some sleep this way. |
I've always wondered that myself. Daisy is going on 4 months old. I used to let her sleep in bed with me but she would go to the end of the bed and potty without barking. So i put her back in her carrier to sleep when she cries i ignore her the first time (3 hours after i put her to bed) the second time i'll get up and depending on the i have to potty cry or i want to get in bed cry and let her out (when she does the potty cry) then put her in bed w/me and she'll sleep right up until i get up. |
I was wondering this too. With Daphne-my pom, she started sleeping through the night by 9 weeks! We got her at 6 weeks, so that was great for us--we were so spoiled with her..hehe.. With Taylah, she is 3 months/12 weeks 2 days and she gets up 1 time at night, which I guess is still good since shes still kinda little and young. She gets me up on the dot around 4 Am (she sleeps in our bed til' this time), I get up, take her out, and then put her in her crate, and she sleeps til around 7-7:30 Am when we get up to take her back out. We go to bed around 11:30-12:00 AM. |
I think getting up in the night can definetely be an inadvertent learned behavior on their part. Mine both sleep in their own beds in our bedroom. They have a crate in our bedroom too and occasionally choose to sleep in there. They sleep through the night and only get up if one of us gets up to go to the bathroom or something. When I get up at 5:30, they accompany me to the bathroom, use the wee pads, then they go back to bed! Those little rats!! They look all snuggly in their beds when I come back to get dressed, and just look at me all sleepy eyed...whatta life! |
1 Attachment(s) Stew has been sleeping not only through the night, but through the afternoon if I want him to - since the day I got him! He always goes to bed @ 1030PM no matter what time I go. I wake him up when I want to leave the couch and move to my bed. One time he was awake late. I think he was restless or something. I gave him a Greenie to chew on in bed and I went to sleep. I think he fell asleep eating it because when I woke up, it was right by his head. I took a pic: |
I got Ruby at 5 months old and she has slept through the night since the first day i got her. She also sleeps with me. Bella is 11 weeks old and she has slept through the night since she was 8 weeks old (except she gets up on her own to use the pee pad) but i don't really count that because she'll pee and run right back to her bed beside mine. :) |
I paper trained Spikey. When we got him the 1st night, he woke up at 3 a.m. and cried. Then 2nd night, he slept till 5 a.m. He is 18 weeks now (4 months +) he goes to bed at 9 p.m. and wakes up at 6:30 a.m. on weekdays and 7:30 a.m. on weekend. He is our alarm clock, at 6:30 a.m. he will call my husband and wakes him up for his feed. I don't know if he wakes up in the middle of the night because he sleeps in his own bed and pees on the paper himself. We're very blessed to have him. |
Sydney sleeps in her crate (with a sheet and a pillow of course) and she has slept through the night pretty much since we got her. She cried a little (maybe for a half hour) the first night. And for about the first month we had her she would wake up and cry if one of us went to the bathroom in the middle of the night. But other than that she is good about it. She will be 1 year in a couple of weeks and now most morning she doesn't want to get out of her bed (and that's after sleeping for 7 straight hours) I guess I was lucky with that one...but then again...we have other problems  |
Thanks for all the answers! I am going to try and let her sleep with me all night, I am afraid that she will fall off since she likes to sleep on the bottom by my feet, I'll put a cushion there and hope for the best. The other problem is my 8 year old pom, who shas slept through the night since I got her, sleeps under my bed and doesn't like the puppy bothering her. I'll keep you posted. |
my pups are 7 weeks and have just started sleeping through the night....I think...they sleep in the bathroom but use to cry several times anight now I don't here them until morning around 5 or 5:30 I assume they are sleeping! |
Sleep throught the night? What is that?? My girls are a year old now and Magic rarely sleeps through the night, she is up at least once to potty and sometimes twice....Sailor sleeps the night on most nights, but we always get up around 6am for some playtime, even on the weekends...urg!! |
Keeley is a lazy little guy. When we first got him at 10 weeks, he would wake up around 8:30-9 am. And now that he is older he'll sleep in as late as possible. There are even mornings when he acts all put out if we wake him up "too early". He'll snort at us and go under the blankets. But lately since he has been getting the pukies in the AM I have been waking him up about 5:30 to give him a little snack and then he goes right back to bed until our wake up time (usually around 9:30). On the weekends we will sleep in until 11:00 sometimes, and he still out sleeps us. The breeder told us that he loves his sleep at night and loves his play in the day. (He doesn't nap much durring the day). It is funny how they all are so different. My parents are amazed that I found a dog that loved to sleep as much as I do. I love sleeping in when I can... |
I don't want to scare you, but Lucky is two and she wakes me up anywhere from 2-4 times a night! If I take her out to go potty, she goes right back to sleep. If I don't, she will run around my room and paw at my bed until I give in and take her out. Then, when I have to get up for work, the little stinker stays in bed. She's so sassy, ya gotta love her. |
Lily Mae is 5 months and basically sleeps until around 7 and then she is up.. I keep her crate at night |
