[News] Yorkie Olympics in Florida! There's a little video as well if you click on the link below. :) (Hmm, video doesn't appear to be loading. DOH!) --- ORLANDO, Fla. -- There is a national championship going on right now in Central Florida to determine who is No. 1 in the nation, but it is not for people -- it is for their canine companions. The Toy Dog Club of Central Florida is holding the Yorkie Olympics, the biggest event in the Yorkshire Terrier world. The top Yorkshire Terriers in the country are showing off their skills and agility. Some executed flawlessly, others just could not take the pressure. Rena Barrett of New Jersey and her Yorkie, Mr. Cinnamon Bun, tried their best but did not perform to heightened expectations. "He pooped in the ring and got disqualified," explained Barrett. At the fierce level of competition there, pooped also described the energy level of the people. "I'm out of shape," shared Kathy Doheny of Pennsylvania. "My dog is not panting [but] I need oxygen." Still, there is an air of prestige to the event and everyone wants to look his or her best. But even champions have to be pried off of spectators' legs from time to time. "My non-dog friends think I'm crazy. I try to explain it's like belonging to a church group only you have your dog group," shared Barrett. Check out the thrill of canine competition yourself this weekend at the Wyndham Hotel on International Drive and Sand Lake Road. The small-breed competition will take place on June 26 and 27, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and admission is free. http://www.wesh.com/community/3460674/detail.html |
Max would win! No questions about it......Max would be the olympic champion for marking his territory (or yours), scratching and pouting. :D I just came from the park and I ended up having to carry him throughout the whole darn park.....he would stop and mark every blessed tree, plant, grass, lampposts, etc etc......he sniffs constantly as I am pulling him from something that he finds interesting......(everything)....no doubt....he is a champion marker. :p He will pout for hours if we leave him......pitiful |
Higgins would make the US Olympic Paper Shredding Team! He can shred paper SILENTLY faster than you can blink and eye! Our house looks like a blizzard half the time! |
Hahah, nominate that for an event for next year's Olympics! |

Higgins simply MUST try out for the Tugsock Team! He will play that by the HOUR! It's his favorite game and he keeps bringing the tugsock to us, sits and whines until we play. I get a tugsock in my face in bed every morning! And that tugsock is getting really grody --- eeeewwwww --- time for new one! |
Baby Lindsey could be the Champion for the most "Toys on Bed" event ! Every night we have to clean out and clear our bed from the toys that she's dropped there all thru the day. Lacey & Lindsey have their own Bone Shaped toy box where all the toys are kept, but they aren't neat for putting them back when they are done. Sometimes it hurts our feet to "step on" one of those knubby nyla bones in dim light, OUCH ! Or roll over in bed on one that we forgot to pick out of the covers! They love the soft toys from Walmarts baby department, they are elephant, tiger, pig I think i a pkge. The girls are not rough on their toys and don't shred them, they just like to carry them around as if they were their puppy. So Cute !! |
Funny you should mention it......I just stepped on my first knobby Nylabone last night! It was almost as much fun as stepping on Legos when my kids were little........... :( |
Thanks for posting this! That's my BUN MAN UP THERE! Thanks guys! :D |
Bradley could enter the Paper Shredding team also, or Sneak Toliet Paper Out Of The Trash team lol. He just loves to do that. Another one is Stealing Boyd Bears Without Mom Knowing Team LOL |
Hahaha....Mojo is another one that loooooves to shred paper. Maybe i should have him trained and go to the next doggy olympics!!:D |
