The Problem With Zach Zach just got neutered on Saturday and he did really well. The vet said he has to relax for the next few weeks. Hence my problem. Zach will not sit still for a second. He jumps out of his pen and when I put him the big corralle, he keeps jumping up and down until I take him out He is supposed to be walked on a leash but he refuses to walk because he is used to running free in our back yard with his sisters. I am so paranoid I keep checking his stitches to make sure everything is okay. So far everything the vet told us to do with him can't be done. Did anybody have this problem with their male dogs or am I the only one going crazy over here. The only time he was quiet is when we first brought him home after that forget it. |
Pnut was the opposite. He layed around for days, didnt want to walk, play or anything :p He is a little sensitve!! You have to MAKE Zach take it easy, at least no running or jumping. Keep an eye on his stiches, I think he will be ok.. |
Dinky was ready to run and play after about 3 days. We kept him as still as possible and really tried to keep him from jumping around. I carried him up and down any stairs and allowed him to walk short distances. Mostly I carried him around to keep him from running around. He healed beautifully. |

Oh, and I too did a lot of carrying Kaji around. I knew he wouldn't sit still so I just carried him from place to place. |
I'm going to have to deal with this again, I just made Calvin'e appointment for next month. Chase was hard to keep still too though. I ended up keeping him on a leash for 5 days. He still managed to jump on the bed and sofa a couple times, but I really think it helped. He was not happy about it, but it's better than him hurting himself. |
stitches The boys aren't the only ones who are stinkers after getting spayed or neutered. Belle was quite for a couple hours while the meds wore off then it was like a zoo! She did everything she could think of that she wasn't suppose to. I kept trying to hold her and keep her calm, yeah right. She kept sneeking out of her bed and going behind the couch, when I would look for her she would jump out after my foot then take off and run and jump on our Lab. I asked the vet if the pain pills were for Belle or me? |

My Boomer was ready to run around the next day. I had them both done on a Friday so I could have all weekend to watch them. I just laid in my bed and watched movies because that always kept them still...they wanted to be near me. |
Thanks for the repliies. Zach is so hyper I can't keep up with him. So far he's broken every vet rule. I keep watching the stitches and they look okay. He isn't trying to lick the incision too much. When he does I just say no and he stops. As a matter of fact I noticed a little ball type thing hanging right behind the incision. I called the vet because I had no idea what it was and she told me when they neuter they don't take out the scrotum (not sure of the spelling) they only remove the testicle. She said it would eventually dry up and shrink. Anybody ever hear of this? She said if I have a problem with this to bring him in and they would check him out. |
