Just got a yorkie. Any tips? advice? words of wisdom? please! :) I just got a 1.9 pound yorkie named Mason. I've always had larger dogs so I'm not used to such a small one. I'd like to know if anyone has any advice or tips or any words of wisdom to offer me. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you in advance. :animal36 :aimeeyork:thumbs up:yorkietal |
Welcome...there are so many wise members here to help. Congrats |
Hello! my boyfriend suprised me with a 1 year old yorkie last night : ) really excited about having him..he is already really protective over both of us. Good Luck! |
First of all Welcome to YT. When you're used to big dogs, Yorkies are a big change. They are fragile (sort of). They sometimes have medical problems that big dogs don't get. They are lovable little babies and it's great to hold them in your arms and hug them. I have 2 50 + lb Bassets so it was kind of hard to get used to having a Yorkie. But the little buggers crawl into your heart. The bottom line is you have to be a bit more careful with them. |
just ask any questions that you have along the way. we're happy to answer anything and i mean ANYTHING you mite want to know. |
This is a wonderful link from the YT Library. This may help answer some questions you have. :) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...w-parents.html |
Start saving your money, because one yorkie is never enough :D |
I would say first off to watch him constantly. They are so tiny and can get hurt or get into everything. I was even afraid we would shut the door on little Dudley and kill him. He is so much tinier than Kayla. I would be careful about small children holding him too. They can jump out of your arms so fast. Good luck with your new baby. Its just like having a toddler to watch after. lol!!! |
Hi and wel come. First thing you should know about Yorkies is that you will laugh most of the time. Second you should know that the most common problems are Hypoglycemia and teeth issues. Have fun and enjoy your new friend |
Congratulations! |
