OMG, I'm turning into a crazy yorkie mom... It has been raining pretty hard for a week now and yesterday I went out in the rain and bought two pieces of sod to put under my patio cover so my baby can go potty on dry grass. The guy at the nursery laughed and laughed but was very nice to help me pack up the wet and muddy sod in my car. I hope I'm not crazy and there are others who do this as well. My baby does not like to get his beautiful coat wet and muddy in the rain and I hate to see him holding his potty and be uncomfortable. Plus, this saves me the multiple towel-dry, blow-dry, re-top-knot, etc. Yes, he got wet even with his raincoat on. P.S. He love the dry grass and is doing very well. P.P.S. When the weather is dry I will use them to patch up my lawn and buy more when the rain comes again :D :D |
If you are turning into a crazy yorkie mommy then you are in good company. I think we are alll crazy yorkie mommies (and daddies too).:D |
Wow - that's actually a great idea, LOL. When it was pouring, I would try to get Jackson to go out on the screened in porch (not carpeted)... I should get some of those grass patches and put them out there, LOL |
Haha! Welcome to the nuthouse :D |
What a good club to be in!!! ;) |
Welcome...if its any consolation, I just bought a stroller |
Welcome..it's a great club. |
It's really nice to know there are people out there who will go to the ends of the earth for their little one's instead of reading about the abuse of puppies we read in the news all of the time.:) |
Mine go outside regardless of how hard it's raining, but I've been trying to keep them in since they are pad trained anyway, but they gang up from time to time and stay by the door, barking, spinning and such that I have to let them out. I put a little heater that blows nice warm air in the sun room for them and they come in and lay in front of it while they lick their paws. |
What am AWESOME idea!!!!!!!!! My izzy HATEs the rain and will not go in it.... Im going to have to keep this in mind for next time!! |
I did the sort of the same thing for Taycie. When I first brought her home I was using puppy pads, it worked fine at home but at work she would go outside like the other dogs and well long story short she started to become really confused.. So my alternative was a sod box. I got a piece of sod and planted it in a long shallow under the bed box. I also drilled holes in the bottom of the box for drainage. And then I chucked the puppy pads out the window. Honestly, was the best invention yet! I use my sod box when I am out long and just pop it in her xpen. Solved my potty training issues almost instantly! ... Yes! I love sod... we are not crazy yorkie moms just smart:) |
Thank you all very much. Glad to know I'm in good company. I love this nutty club!!! |
You're def not alone...the crazy things that we do for that innocent angel eyes look from them :) |
This is PRECISELY why we have an indoor grid system... LOL Harley does not go outside in the cold, wet or snow... lol There is a post called Grid System for anyone wondering what that is... lol BTW welcome to the nutt house! you should see the "how many beds" post (Harley has 8) |
What a great idea! I would have never thought to buy sod :D Thanks for sharing... I definitely could see myself doing that for my pups. |
