Question for those who breed or own tinies
 
Someone onf FB has a 12 ounce yorkie that is 21 weeks olde. She claims that it will not get any bigger because those tiny ones stop growing at 24 weeks old. I have never heard of a full grown yorkie under a pound.

I think I've seen that article on Pinnochio before. It's from 2003 --- I wonder how he's doing now?

I can't see how it would stop growing at 24 weeks old just because it was small, I would like to see the dog in a few months time and see if her prediction was correct.
Although I have no idea why anyone would want a dog that small, I would be terrified incase I stood on it! I know when Poppy was a very young pup she was always under my feet and it was so scary.

EDIT: Okay I just clicked on the link and I see this pup was 1 year old at the time. Strange.

Sadly, I believe Pinocchio passed away a few years ago.

OH I would too. It just would not be much fun. I like a dog I can hug. That would be just too fragile, and more worry than fun.

Yep. I would rather have a dog like 'Clifford the big red dog' which I could ride to the shops. :p

And this says he lived to be 2 years and 3 months ..... still a VERY short life.

I got Ruby at 20 weeks old, she was 1.5 lbs at the time. Our vet didn't think she would gain even a pound at that age, which would have put her well under 3lbs. Ruby surprised us all and is a 3lb 2oz girl now. She stayed right at 2.15oz up until after her spay at 13 months. So, in answer to your question Jeanie...I think it's possible this little girl will still grow some but maybe not much more. I know from experience with Ruby being this small, I would not want one any smaller.

I have one that did not hit 3 pounds till she was over a year old. She stayed at 2 pounds 12 ounces for a long time.

She is a Prima Dona, but when I want to hug or play with one I pick my 9 pounder.

I had a girl named "Little"...she was almost 2 pounds and I did not enjoy owning her...I gave her to a friend who adores her...but it was much like owning a bird...except she ran all over the house and I worried about her daily.
