How do I make my furbabies meals interesting My two Biewers puppies are very bored with their food. They're 5 months old. I currently feed them Royal Canine puppy food. Do I need give them something different for Breakfast and something else for dinner? What are some ideas to keep their meals healty and tasty. I want my furbabies to be excited to eat when I put their food in their bowls :animal36 Any suggestions?? |
Have you thought about switching brands? My girls are always excited to eat and TOTW has been the only brand they have both acted like this with. Cooper would be excited it dirt was in her bowl. lol If you want to stick with RC, you could consider also feeding raw, although if they are bored with their kibble, this may cause them to stop eating it all together. |
I have the same problem with my youngest- she seems bored all the time. What I do is buy different cans of dog food, jars of baby food (the fruit and veggie varieties), cottage cheese, and yogurt. I try to add something different into their kibble each night. Also if I have something left over from dinner that they can eat like sweet potato, plain chicken, or fresh veggies I will add that instead. They will eat plain kibble and do each morning, but at least at night they are getting something a little different. |
Get some Stella & Chewey's dried and crumble a little over the kibble. That's what I do when my two won't eat right away. |
I give my boys a little chopped baby spinach. Even if I just break up one leaf, Cooper is so excited for his food. I also give them little pieces of pineapple or a drop of cottage cheese in the bowl. |
Thanks for the suggestions. I will try them and hopefully something will work. Thanks |
Spinach! Such a good Idea! Taycie Loves baby carrots. Sometimes I will cook a piece of chicken on my George Foreman and then shred a small amount over her food. |
I guess we're lucky.... Tatum eats Wellness Core and that's all. No table food or snacks (except for Cheerios for potty treats and a bully stick every couple weeks). I'm kinda of the mind-set that they will eat when hungry and if you keep switching foods, they come to expect it.... but then again as I said, I guess we got lucky. Good luck! |
I don't know . . . maybe they're just really picky eaters. They are healty pups and at least they will eat when they really get hungry. I'm willing to change their brand of dog food if I need to. I also like the idea of adding things to it. |
Spice up their kibble for one meal a day...try this link for ideas I got a ton from here but I feed "treats" or non-kibble food by hand so I didn't have a super pretty post like most on here LOL http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...-mealtime.html Personally we feed Taste of the Wild here, just switched from Innova, well and Elvie-roo eats Stella and Chewy's. I've dropped a few Zuke's Mini Naturals in Elvis' bowl to encourage him eating before but I try not to make a habit of it... |

I feed wet/dry mixed at dinner-time and I constantly buy different brands of canned food with different flavors. I also feed pre-made raw a few times a week. |
