Rescuing a Yorkie, need some help!!!

There was a hoarding incident, not much info given but I believe they were dividing the confiscated dogs to different rescue groups and just not Yorkies. I found it on Petfinder. A rescue group called Rescuzilla in NYC was one rescue to get 10 Yorkies. I don't think there was just Yorkies. This rescue group really deals with pit bulls. Back to the hoarding. Actually I believe the woman gave them up without too many problems. It seems animal hoarders get in over their head. They told me all the Yorkies were healthy and UTD with their shots. However none are altered or spayed so that would be my responsibilty. Application filled out but when I spoke yesterday they were gone. Received email this am, one person backed out and I was next.
I need some guidelines here. As most of you know, I have Jemma who is part Yorkie and part Shih-tzu. She is 2 years old now and is very active. She is also possessive but the correction for that is working better and I think she is getting that she owns nothing. Thank you YT.
Anyway, here is the info I have which is nothing really. She is 4 years old. I am told she is shy (flag raised) but very loving and could use a playmate, Jemma. The shy part has me a bit concerned. Jemma is female but spayed. My application was for a male. This one would HAVE to be spayed. And I would do it. But I want to make sure about the adoption. I asked if I could see her tomorrow AND bring Jemma with me. If I can't bring Jemma I won't do it. I need to make sure that they both get along at first meeting as I don't want either one getting hurt. As much as I want a Yorkie I could easily walk away before I adopt one that isn't going to work. I don't believe in re-homing if possible. I know with hoarding she must be so use to being together with other dogs, which I think would be positive. Jemma plays with my son's maltese with no problems. But although they are plus signs, it's these two that have to get along. And Jemma sure could use a playmate. I think she really gets lonely at times. Kinda misses that natural instinct of "pack"
However, can you give me any ideas of what I should look for when I go see her? I know nothing about her teeth, will look at that tomorrow too. The best way to introduce both dogs together? However if the adoption is a success she will get a policy with Petplan like I have for Jemma. They cover pre-exisitng conditions. You never know. I've never had to use it yet but at least it is there.
Any suggestions or help would be so appreciated ladies/guys!! There was no group of people I trust more than the expert members here.

I have no advice to offer but want to tell you good luck. I also have lone, female, possessive Yorkie and I am curious to see what type of advice you get.

Personally I think you are doing the right thing by asking if you can bring Jemma along for the meeting.

I don't have any advice because it sounds like you are doing all the right things. Maybe have them meet outside in "netural" territory, not where the rescue yorkie is used to being and might be possessive of.

I think you are very wise to insist on taking Jemma w/u...You can see if the dogs make contact, by looking at each other, sniffing and investigating...If the pup doesn't show any interest, whatsoever, in Jemma, I'd be wary...Some pups just don't like some pups...And some pups, just don't like any pups, and are born to be only "kidz"...All the best w/your meeting...It's good you have the sense to walk away, if you need to...That's a hard thing to do w/ppl, like most of us, w/big hearts!!! Btw, I took Apple, to meet Buzz, at his home, and they were all over each other playing, so I knew it was all good :D...

I am gonna ask a LOT of questions now. When they advertised all 10 rescues it said they were all under 1.5 years, none fixed. So I am told this little girl is 4 and spayed. So now I'm wondering if she is one of the ten dogs. It does not matter but if she is a different dog just coming in for adoption I wan to know why. I don't think that is wrong of me to ask. I have been asking man.y questions.

Ok, the adoption is off. Because jemma's activity level is high shne thinks jemma might just be too much for her. So I appreciate that and simply feel this match just could not happen. However she just informed me however that the woman is turning in 6 more yorkies. She will be talking to her Monday and then she is calling me. Do you think a younger dog mignt be btter because of how active jemma is?

Younger would be better, but it depends also on the individual yorkie's personality and background.
