Snouts grow?
 

I realize this probably makes me sound really dumb...but if I can't ask here I can't ask anywhere. Do Yorkie's snouts grow (longer) after a year??? My first Yorkie didn't have a "snout" change...so this is something new for me. I bathe my two Yorkies every week or every other week (depending on their need), the one Yorkie has always had a very short snout (I always had to be sooo careful washing her face as I'd nearly drown her)...tonight my hubby and I were looking at her and her snout is visibly longer. It is so noticeable we both questioned whether someone "switched" dogs on us while we were at work (no, we didn't really believe that happened - but we both called her name to make sure SHE came to it!)
She's a year and 1/2...anyone ever had a sudden change in their yorkie's look/snout around that age?? It now looks "normal". She always weighed 4 1/2 pounds but has gained to just under 5#, though I can't imagine that contributing to her nose growing longer (Pinocchio- lol) (but since the other one's pups are running around eating out of her dish, she's gotten very concerned over "her" food and has been eating more...thus what I attribute to the weight gain, and it's only a few ounces).

Sorry, I don't have anything useful to say, but that made me laugh.

I knew it...that little liar...tries to act all sweet, but I know better now! lol Though I am very curious if anyone else has had that happen...weird to me.

I have most certainly witnessed a shorter muzzled pup grow into their muzzle and when they mature out it is longer.

When they're pups they're shorter...then they learn to lie.

Now I've had just the opposite experience. My pups' snouts seem to appear shorter as they mature. I know they're 'really' not shorter, but they look a little snouty when they're young and then the snout fits the face better as they mature. Kind of like some pups grow into their ears, I suppose. Anyway, I attribute the appearance change in mine to the skull maturing and everything just falling into proportion better. Funny how you see just the opposite. Different lines, I guess. Mine do show their snout more when wet, and it looks a little longer then, but then you can see a dog's structure so much better when they're wet anyway.

It's probably more an 'appearance' thing than an 'actual' thing as I wouldn't think the snout would really change in length after the adult teeth are in. Could be wrong on that one, though.

You're probably right. My Boomer's snout seemed short when he was a pup with all his cute puppy fur around it, but then I remember my Muffin's snout seemed longer and now it looks shorter.:confused::rolleyes:

Very interesting. It happened pretty suddenly as I'm very involved with my Yorkies (they all get their little noses kissed several times a day!)... Sunday I was bathing her and something 'seemed' different, but I couldn't put my finger on it (lol literally) Tonight, it is like it grew overnight (though I know it couldn't have happened overnight).
Yeah, she's just a liar! --- actually, she's soooo sweet, I've always looked at my animals over the years and think what would they be like if they were people and this one is the shy kid, but one I'd hang out with! My other Yorkie would be the snotty, stuck up person lol - she clearly has that Yorkie "arrogant" air about her, her walk, etc. Those two are sooo different.

Funny, I think of what my two would look like if they were human too.:p There is a little girl in the younger kids class where I work that I've often thought if my Muffin were human...she would look like her. I even call her Muffin sometimes. She actually likes it...:p If I ever just call her by her name ...she'll say "no, Muffin remember Miss Jennifer??"

I wouldn't have thought their snouts would grow in length either at this age. But after hubby and I were really looking at it, I laid my fingers between the eye and nostrils and there clearly was more length (remember I bathe them 2-3 x month and was nearly drowning her, so knowing how much room my fingers could wash her little face). It probably doesn't happen too often, but I had to ask as it surprised us.

That's probably a whole new thread: If your Yorkie was a person, what type of person would he/she be? Seriously, my first Yorkie and I are so attached to each other, love her to death and she lives for when I come home...but if she was a person, she'd be stuck up...(and she probably wouldn't talk to me!!!)
