Update on Nikki Hi, Everyone. I have an update on Nikki. For starters, I misunderstood my friend, we were both so upset, the little Maltese's name is Rikki, not Nikki. And she is lost in Michigan, not Canada. My friend lives in Canada, but she placed Rikki with a friend that lives in Michigan. The full story is that my friend placed Rikki with a friend, named Elisa. Elisa had lost Rikki's sister, Lacey 5 months ago. She was snatched. Elisa's grief was so was so deep, that she was literally dying, so my friend placed Lacey's only living relative, Rikki, with her, last week Wednesday. Elisa did not tell my friend, that she had her 27 year old son living with her and that he has ADHD. Elisa went to the airport and left Rikki home with her son. He FORGOT that Rikki was not allowed to go outside, and she was barking & howling, so he opened the door and she ran out. He chased her, and she went across the highway, and has been spotted around two churchs. There are also houses and businesses there. My friend and her husband live 3 hours away in Canada, but as soon as they got the call, they drove to Michigan, and missed finding Rikki by 1 hour. She took her Rescue dog, Ghandi ,with them, and let him mark the entire area for 3 hours. Then, they had to let him warm up in the car, while they continued to search. They have an amber alert set up, and I am posting the link to the ad. Please, Michigan members, if you live anywhere near this area, please I am begging for your help. http://www.lostmydoggie.com/pet_images/pdf/3311.pdf Furthermore, Rikki is not going to be returned to live with Elisa. My friend wants her back. Thank you for any help you can offer. Sheila |
Wow Im so sorry to hear that. :( I hope Rikki is found soon, sending love and prayers your way! |
I am soo soo sorry for your friend. I will pray for Rikkis safe return. It snows pretty heavy here too and we got about 6" last night. I cant imagine any dog out in that let alone a tiny one! I hope they find her soon! |

Rikki is a kind and gentle, loving little dog. I'm praying she was brave enough to go to someone. |
You need to check craigs list .. in the detroit metro area... I saw some postings for a small 5 lbs dog that was found...Said that it was wearing a collar but no ID tags... Here are a few that i found Found: Two small dogs Found dog Hope this helps ... |

I will keep checking it. Praying someone has her and will try to find her Mom. She's so tiny, just 4 1/2#'s. My Kia, in my Avatar, is 4#'s and the thought of her being out in the cold, makes me cry. Everything we can offer Sandra, to check, will keep her spirits up, until Rikki is found. |
I keep thinking of that poor baby and praying she is found soon and is safe somewhere until then. |

Thank you so much. I can't sleep for more than a few hours. Rikki is 4 1/2#'s, just a 1/2# bigger than my tiny, Kia. And all I can think about is her being out in the cold, praying to God that someone found her Saturday. She wouldn't survive a 2nd night in the cold. I'm amazed that she survived 1 night. Rich said she must have found someplace warm the 1st night, and hopefully, she returned to it, and someone was able to coax her to go to them. I know my friend, Sandra, will never be the same, if Rikki is not found. Sheila |

Thanks so much for giving me this idea. |
this is a tragic story! i'm glad Rikki will not be returning to that family only because it sounds like the son was trying to get the dog to be quiet and wasn't thinking straight. i pray Rikki is found... maybe a Christmas miracle?! |
OMG, is this the dog????? |

Two days.....how could anyone leave her after just two days? She never told my friend, Sandra, that her son had ADHD. I'm glad, too, that Rikki won't be going back to this family. Elisa's name and phone number are in the lost & found ad, but only because she lives there, when, and I do mean, when, because I cannot even consider the alternative, Rikki is found, she will be turned back over to Sandra, and Sandra will never ever let her go to anyone else. I am praying for a Christmas miracle. It just seems like it was no coincidence that Rikki sought comfort in the Manger at one church. My husband thinks she may have spent her 1st night there. |
Ok, I just checked my friends FB, she found this dog on 12/2..This was her post: found a dog yesterday. He was very stinky and dirty, was wearing a collar, no tags. I picked him up in Rose Township and he was more than happy to jump into my car. If you know of anyone who is missing a dog or if you see any "Lost Dog" signs please let me know. He is VERY affectionate especially to the kids. He ador...es Jaylin. I am hoping to return him to his owner. I know how heartbreaking it is to lose a pet |
