I have a qestion about a Yorkie I am looking at purchasing Ok, so I found a yorkie at a local shelter that I am very interested in. He is 9 months old and he was rescued from a puppy mill. Now what concerns me is where he was from a puppy mill do you think he will have a ton of health problems?? He has all of his shots and is neutered, and he was vet checked, so he doesn't have any health problems now but I am worried more-so in the long run. What do you think??? Thanks!!! |
Since he was vet-checked, I wouldn't worry. Any yorkie can come down with health problems later. I would feel good about saving him! Good luck!:) |
great idea!!!!! What a beautiful gift to a very blessed puppy!!! :) |

Oh, I really hope you get him. If you do, we want to see pictures right away. What a wonderful thing you can do to rescue him. Bless you!! Sounds like a healthy little guy to me!! Good luck! |
I have seven rescue dogs and haven't had any unusual health problems with any of them although none of mine came from a puppy mill (that I know of). ANY animal can have health issues no matter where they come from. I think it is wonderful to rescue an animal from something that is no fault of their own and give them a life they deserve to live. I hope you get your new baby and would love to see pictures! |

I think at nine months and vet checked I would feel pretty good about rescuing him. That's young enough that you can probably get past any emotional scars. I think the ones that have the hardest time adjusting are the breeders. They have lived years in deplorable conditions. Good luck!! Welcome to YorkieTalk! |
I have a puppy mill rescue, not a yorkie but a maltese/poodle mix. He now lives with my Mom. We never had any health problems with him. You never know in the long run though. If he is healthy now and you have a big enough heart to adopt him..go for it! You could get a very healthy puppy from a good breeder and down the road it could have major problems. Would love to see a pic of him if you get him :) |
Thanks! Ok, so I think I will try and get him, sadly the soonest day I can get him is Thursday and the puppies go really quickly so I hope I will be able to get him. :) If I do get him I will def put pics on as soon as possible. f Thanks again! |
Hope you get the new puppy. Dont foget to get him a proper dog ID tag right away. ID tags are no longer a pet’s accessories; they are a life-saving necessity. ID tags for dogs and cats are your first line of defense for your pet, should they ever get lost. Dog and Cat ID tags are the most efficient and affordable way to recover your pet in a quick and efficient manner. Wish you luck and happy holiday! |
Hey everyone, so I decided for the best interest of the dog, that I am not going to get him. :( I decided not to because he is very timid and I am afraid that because of my 6 cats that I have, who do not like my other little dog that I have, will just terrify the poor dog and he will be miserable. :( Anyway, when I called the shelter that he is at, they said that there is a couple going to look at him tomorrow that was probably going to get him, so I am not sure I would have been able to get him anyway. Thanks everyone for your responses!!! |
