Is he going to be white? Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and to being a yorkie owner. I have a new yorkie puppy that I've had for 2 weeks. He was born on 10/3/10 so my little Levi is almost 10 weeks old. When I brought Levi home, he was tan and black now his head is turning white and the tan marks are getting much lighter. I really want Levi to be silver/tan, silver/gold, black/gold, black/tan. At this rate do you think that he is going to be white? His parents were blonde/silver and silver/tan. |
Joey's head started turning white around 14 weeks, and eventually it was very white platinum, but his saddle area stayed black/blue. The head and legs eventually turned tan, and then what they call gold. His saddle is a rich shade of blue, which looks like a metallic type of black. They are changing all the time the first couple of years, so take lots of pictures. I think the silver color on the saddle is refered to as a light blue, and the darker metalic of black is referred to as blue. By the way, welcome to Yorkietalk and congrats on getting your new puppy! |
Max had a white "star" on top of his head at 13 weeks. It turned gold and tan. As Nancy wrote, they go through a lot of changes. Welcome to YorkieTalk. :) |
Welcome to YT~I have to agree they do change colors over the first few years. How 'bout some pictures :) |
Yes, pictures! Welcome to YT! I have a little Levi too. :) Mine is almost 3. Congrats on your new puppy! |
wow your puppy and my puppy share the same birthday, but mine will not be ready for pick up until sunday. welcome to yorkie talk! |
Thanks for the welcome! I'll post some pictures as soon as i figure out how. |
Pictures! I have no idea other than to say whites are rare and I'd be pleased to have a unique baby. My Scoobers was blond on his head (he's a mix tho-a Schnorkie) then he went black and now he's a black & silver and black on his body rather than the red and brownish oddity he was...he's two so we'll see where he ends up-he started life as a black and silver and seems to be going back to it. They do change colors for the first few years until their permanent coat has grown in...try the health forum on coloration...PICTURES! You should also look at this thread you can see all the pic posts and the changes or lack of over age. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...-then-now.html |

Puppy!!!! He is so cute! He will definitely go through changes. I thought Jack was going to be very light but he is starting to darken up. Give it time and like the other said, take lots of pictures because they do change a lot! |
He's adorable!! Congratulations :) |
