Hello All!! This is my first post on this website.. I was concerned because my Yorkie (Chloe Belle) started having seizure like episodes. Not really sure that's why i'm posting this thread for peoples opinion.. Ok, after I took Chloe a bath she was laying on the couch then she got up and started to limp like she had one of those prickly thingys in between her paws.. Also, her head started to twitch rapidly.. I got really nervous but she started to calm down and now she seems very tired.. She doesn't seem to respond to me calling her, she's just laying down..I did just take her on a 30 min. walk before the incident.. Open to all opinions.. Thx, Dexter |
Hello Dexter and Chloe welcome to yorkie talk. I am sorry to hear about Chloe having problems. I do not have any advice for you regarding her condition but there are many helpfull people on yorkie talk. My Buster has had several health issues and the people here have been wonderful offering great advice as well as support. I think you should also post this on the sick and injured forum and browse through the posts there. Sadly I have seem a number of posts regarding this issue. Best wishes to you and Chloe. |
Please take her to an emergency vet immediately. |
Well, I'm new to yorkies but I'm a nurse and what you are describing is definatly seizure type activity. The reason she is probably not responding to you calling her name is because when a person(I'm sure a canine isn't much different) has a seizure it leaves them very tired. When a person has a seizure, the oxygen to their brain is being cut off. That's why it's so important to time a seizure. Our brains can only go without oxygen for so long without causing brain damage or even death. Your little pooch should be taken to the vet for further evaluation and possibly preventive medication. |
Definitely take her to a VET ASAP. today or tomorrow would not be too early. If tonight you can video an episode it would also be helpful for your vet to see. |
I would have the vet check Chloe out. Hope she's OK. Good Luck. |
Hi ! I've just visited this forum. Happy to get acquainted with you. Thanks. |
