If he's 1 lb 7 oz??? Ok, I found out today from the breeder, that my future baby is 1 pound 7 oz. and he's 6 weeks and 3 days old. what would you 'guestimate' his adult weight at? TIA |
I've heard triple at 8 weeks, and double at 12 weeks...but Maximus was 2.1 at 13 weeks and a little over 8 lbs now at 10 months |
Generally it's double the weight at 8wks, not triple. Sometimes that doesn't work. All the pups that I raised, this system worked. I do have a line that slows down their growth about 10wks considerably. 3 of my pups in my last litter stopped growing at 10wks. So it depends on their line too. This is just a guessing game. Triple I never heard that, except there is a thread here last month that someone said that. Say at 8wks your pup is 2lbs, through my experience. I would say he would be 4lbs as an adult. Good luck :yorkietal |
I say double the weight @ 16 weeks and triple @ 8 weeks. |
weight Nothing is 100%..the rule of thumb is triple at 8 and double at 12 week..with the 12 week weight being more accurate. If you double at 16 weeks you might get one far too small for breeding, but certainly would know if it was going to be a small pet. If a pet buyer looks at a pup who is 3 pounds at 8 weeks..rarely will it be 6 pounds as an adult..that is quite large at 8 weeks. Each line is different and I perfer the 12 wks weight doubled. I would guess this pup will be at least 6 pounds and perhaps a bit more...if you are paying for a tiny it is unlikely, depends on what you want. |
My yorkie Lacey was a pound and half at 6 weeks. Then, as she got older, it stayed at a steady 3 and half pounds. As she got into her senior years, it stayed at a steady 4 and half pounds. She never reached the 5 pound mark. |
Cali was 1.1 at 9 weeks and now at 20 weeks she is 2.9 any guesses as to what she will end of weighing? Does the growh slow done as they approach 5-6 months of age Thanks |
http://yorkiepassion.com/growthchart.htm that website offers an interesting chart. ( another "good guess" ;) ) |
According to the chart I am looking at... the puppy will be 5 to 5 1/2 pounds... give or take depending on appetite.... :) How big are the parents... you can figure out an approximation of weight by them..... :aimeeyork |
Why always trying to look at future weight , all I can say is the little one will be big enough to love you and be your faithful friend for many years to come . |

i say tripple his 8 week weight and double his 12 week. Dollar was 1.6 when we got him and he was 12 weeks so that would be 3.2lbs. RIGHT? |
My Boy was 1lb 4oz at 12 weeks and is now 5 lbs at 19 months. |

Well if I doubled Gracie's 8 week weight she'd be barely over 2 lbs. and she's 4 lbs! If I double her 16 week weight, she's right on the money. |
