Vet, Christmas I'm pretty sure I read a thread about this before. What type of gift would you give your vet for Christmas? The vet in my town is really good with my babies and all the girls who work there are great. I usually send a card to wish them Merry Christmas and thank them for what they do for my babies year round, but I'm thinking of getting them something. What would be appropriate? |
As tough as times are, perhaps a gift card? Then they can choose what they could really use? I know my vet is struggling to stay afloat because so many clients have lost their jobs and can't afford to keep their pets (or at least pay for the level of care they have in the past) and I'll bet he's not alone. |
I like to make "theme" baskets for gifts for people, they are inexpensive and easy to create but really cool and people love to get them. One of my favorites is the Movie Gift basket - get an empty popcorn container (like movie theaters use), fill with your vet's favorite 2 litter soda, some unpopped microwave popcorn, a large box or two of milk duds or Ike & Mike candy and a $10 gift card to a movie rental place. I tie the gift card to the soda with some ribbon. (this is also good for your babysitter, hair dresser or anyone else you want to give a small gift to for the holidays) I've also done a holiday spiced tea selection and tea cookies with a tea mug for a friend, a collection of flavored coffees & flavored creamers, a cocoa basket with different cocoas, marshmellows, & peppermint sticks, and an ice cream sundae basket with flavored ice cream toppings (marachino cherries, butterscotch, fudge, caramel toppings), ice cream scoop, and little ice cream bowls. I'm looking right now at making one with a small cutting board and a selection of cheese samples for a friend's daughter. Teresa |
I always make a large tray of homemade cookies for the entire vets office. They are all so good to me and Sammy so it's just a little thank you to all of the staff as well as my vet. |
I just built my vet a new office:rolleyes::rolleyes: I think he should send me a gift. |
Roxy, I think it is so sweet of you to remember yr babies' Vet for Christmas. I'm also sending something to our groomer. She's been a friend for years. Teresa - LOVE the movie night theme gift basket! & other themes. Thanks for the ideas. |

Gifts So many things you can do for vets and personal along with groomers. I am sending tray of goodies...so everyone can have some and not just the vet or groomer. |

It is called the Ark Animal Hospital so most people give them Ark related things. The whole place is decorated with Arks of all sizes and kinds. I haven't actually given him any Arks, but have been thinking about it. He is a pretty good guy.....but I pay him a LOT over the course of a year too. So, I'm not sure.....will probably depend on how the month goes. I try to make sure the lower paid service people get theirs first (newspaper, groomer, hairdresser, etc.) then I'll see where I am. I never give my doctor a present so I doubt the vet will get one either. I do like the idea of a cookie plate for the whole office though. |

Cheese and fruit, or bagels, are nice changes from all the sweets of the season. |
I am going to put together a gift basket for the office, so that everyone can enjoy it, I was going to order a gift basket but all the ones I found seem to have junk in them- so I figured I could make my own with quality items. I am also going to put together a small basket with fleece blankets, toys, and treats for them as well. They take in cats and rehabilitate them and adopt them out and they are always in need of these items for the cats cages, so I figured a small basket for them would be nice- Just trying to figure out the presentation for this one- I like for the "basket" to be a useful item as well- so I was thinking maybe a snuggle sack type bed or something . |
Last year I gave my vet clinic (staff included) a gift basket, best thing I have ever done. It was filled to overflowing with all types of pet items or pet related items, for the entire clinic...I have to say they all "loved" it!!! There was some goodies in there for the staff as well as their pets. |
Thank you all, a gift basket is an excellent idea. A fruit basket would be great, because I noticed last year they had quite a bit of sweets from others and a fruit basket would be a good choice. I wanted something that everyone at the clinic can enjoy, they're all great people. I think I will make up a basket as well for the local rescue, with blankets and such. :) |
I'm waiting for a Christmas present from my vet!! I don't have much money left over after taking all of our animals to the vets over the years, so I think this would be a really nice thing for him to do for me - don't you think!!!:D |
