| I read that the US is actually waiting on the end of a 10 year study of not docking tails or more appropriately the illegality of it in the UK to see if the increased risk of tail injury and infection (infection seems to be based on cleanliness solely) are actually high enough to maintain it being a standard here or to abolish it here as in the UK...think we have another 2 years before any determination is made.
I do have to say I feel bad now for having three dogs with floppy ears and docked tails, I had thought that was the preferred method for keeping them safer and healthier and it looks like it is the exact opposite. I do however really appreciate having a place like YT to get sound and correct advice when there is often either so much debate about a topic or so much misinformation out there. I should also add the for anyone as naive or thinking misinformation is correct out there, taping of ears (when done correctly) is so much more humane than ear cropping and thus isn't half the controversy of the issue. |
