Use your search tool in the sick and injured forum to look up liver shunt and read about it. There has been much written about it. Yorkies are prone to it. That is why it is important to know if the breeder does bile acid tests on the parents. I'll let someone else speak about caring for a liver shunt pup after the surgery.

There are probably some bigger yorkies out there that will jog, but the most the majority of them can do is walk. I'll admit they all have running spurts, but I don't think you will find a jogging companion in a yorkie. They do make great walking companions. When the weather gets very hot, you will need to be careful to walk them when the temperature is at the coolest part of the day.
Thank you for the information, as usual. Well seeing as my future baby will not be able to jog that is not a problem! Also, thanks for the heads up about the temperatures, it gets really hot here in Florida, the concrete is always extremely hot. At some of the advice given here about the age/training, I have applied for two rescue dogs (a 2year old and a 6 year old) and I will have to wait and see if either of the rescues find me to be a suitable candidate/match for the pup.

Also, thank you for the link to the sticky...I found the avg between the high and low for each category to give myself some idea of what to plan for.

I'm sure you are probably one of the most desirable candidates around.:) I'm sure the apt does get lonely and I promise you there won't be a lonely minute once you have a yorkie around. They are truly wonderful little dogs.

Good luck! I hope you find your baby soon. I actually know of 3 jogging yorkies. Mine being one of them. :) If the issue was temp and humidity, well... I don't know about that.

I just found someone who works at a local vet's office who had a client surrender her yorkie because she couldn't take care of him anymore, I think I may have found my baby! Nothing for sure yet, but I will let you guys know soon and post pictures!!
