What do you put your piddle pads in once dirty? For those of you that use piddle pads for your babies, what do you do with them once soiled? I have 4 that use them and right now 3 have a belly upset and are having diarrhea quite a few times a day. I do not like throwing them in my kitchen trash, even when just wet and when soiled is worse., So I have been looking for something to keep them in until trash day. I looked at the diaper genie, diaper pails, ect. The problem is I am looking for something that will keep the smell down.Any ideas would be nice. I read the reviews on the diaper genie and some people said you can still smell the diapers after 2 or 3 days I can not imagine Dog Poo smell. YUCK. Thanks for your input. |
Honestly mine are immediately placed in the trashcan OUTSIDE. |
My girl likes to "dig" at her pad before she goes so I switched to the washable ones. |
Can you just tie them in a Walmart type bag and then into the regular trash? Thta is what I do and that was the way I did my kids' diapers too. Just tie them in a walmart/grocery store bag and then into the trash. If it is a really nasty one, then the trash has to go outside immediately. Wet ones, could wait til the end of the day. |
I only use washable pads. I pick up the poop and flush, and I throw the pads in the wash immediately. Often too as I am anal LOL |
Before I switched to washables, I used a Diaper Genie. I always flushed the poop, though. |

I put the soiled and wet ones in a bread bag the ones with a tie. I tie them off or in a walmart bag and tie them off, but I havea large trash can in the garage. I open the door and put them in the trash can. If they have soft stools my goodness it smells in the garage. Even with them being tied off. Last week I had a rescue He had a upset belly and oh my the smell in the garage and that was one. This week, Jackie now has it and Lillie started today. I pick them up right away, toss into a bread bag and I tie them off and toss in the trash can in the garage. The smell tonight was unreal. So I thought if there was something else that would keep the smell confined it would be great. The only problem with the pails ect when it comes time to emptying it, I will have to go outside ,down wind, and use a gas mask. LOL |
What are you feeding? This is going to sound ridiculous ''my dogs poop doesn't stink" LOL! JK -- but it is not that bad anyway. They have firm little tootsie rolls that don't have a strong odor. I get more of a pee smell from my garbarge than I do poop. I make sure to take it out at least once a day. Make sure you are feeding a premium food. Some even will advertise "low residue" "low odor" etc.... Canidae, Royal Canin, and Solid Gold Wee Bits have all been good about this for me. You could shake the poop into the toliet & flush to help except for the diarrhea you mentioned before. Then it is pretty much a tie in the bag and get rid of it situation. Maybe you could sprinkle something on it -- baking soda, kitty litter (the chlorophyll kind), spray good with fabreeze, just grasping at straws now. What do you know -- I just bing'd for "what to do with smelly puppy pads" and found this: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...m?pcatid=21474 Looks like just what you need. |
I could not stand them and switched to washables a long time ago. Now, I flush the poops and wash the pads. I do laundry every day because I cannot stand to have the pads sit anywhere. |
I fold the soiled pads in thirds lengthwise and roll them up fairly tightly before placing them in the trash. If the can gets to stinking, I'll spray into the trashbag with a 5% bleach solution that I keep on hand anyway. Bleach solution normally eradicates diarrhea smell quickly. If the room gets stinky, you can spray an old dish towel with the bleach solution and walk around waving it through the air to eliminate odors in the room. I used this method when my stepdaughter was using a body spray that I ended up being allergic to, plus she always used way too much of it before school. I could feel my throat closing up every morning. Tried this with the bleach towel and it removed the offending odor right away and I could breathe freely again. ( Asking her to switch scents went over real well... she put it on even heavier):D |
When Poppy was using pee pads I would put them straight in the outside bin once dirty. |
I use a Diaper Genie, and flush the poop. :) |
I just tie them up in a grocery bag and toss them in my kitchen trash same with my cat litter and we only take the trash outside once every few days I never have trouble with smell I also have a smell good block in the bottom of my trashcan but i cant smell it ever |
I flush the poo and trash the pads. I take the trash out daily. |
