Why do non-dog people think a yorkie play group is so hilarious? I encounter many new people everyday, just a part of owning my own business. Most people love Uni and start a conversation about her. many comment on how tiny she is (she's not, she's average 5.5 lbs) and I respond with "You should see some of the ones in her play group. They're like half her size." Instead of being surprised there are yorkies half the size of Uni, they are more surprised she has a playgroup. Once a husband and wife came in, the wife is a total dog person, the husband not so much. I said the same thing, and he said "Let me guess, everyone in the play group is female and single" Me:  I said, "No actually many are married and have kids and the husbands come along as well." Him:  It's more of a gathering for friends to have a potluck and let the furbutts play together and helps them get more socialized. I've been so busy I haven't been to one in a while, but what's so funny about yorkie play groups? Human baby's have play groups too, why not fur kids? |
you are so lucky to have play groups there , I wish the u.k would have such a group. I can't even find a dog training group for small dogs only ! :p |
We do that....two of our neighbors on the same cul-de-sac also have Yorkies....when we do a monthly-ish potluck.....the humans get to come too!!! :D The kiddos informed us that they needed us here to supervise, feed, and treat them. :D |
i just wish that there were such things around here...no play gruops no dog parks, no boarding places, no training classess nuthin. |

My daycare has boarding and grooming as well in different parts of the building a man come in to drop his dog off for grooming and and made several comments that he had no idea why someone would pay $50 a day for someone else to play with there dog. "why cant they just lock them in a cage and turn the radio on"? i was so mad by the time Gatsbys "teacher" came to get him I almost took him with me . |

The play groups we found by accident or just formed them ourselves...plenty of boarding and training here, but the city is completely lacking in the area of dog parks. Being a suburb of Indianapolis, and one that is growing steady in the downturn, you would think city officials would use that as a tactic to get more people in. :( |
Our playgroups are usually at the people's homes. They rotate who hosts each time. It's better than other times when we had them at dog parks bc you can't bring in people food. Also the other dogs there can sometimes not be the most well behaved. |

Add me to the list of people who think a Play group is wonderful! I would love to find one when I bring Hazel home. Sadly We have nothing like that around here. |
