I was hysterical This afternoon I was outside in the yard with Scooter and when I looked around, he was gone. I called and called but no Scooter. The yard is totally fenced so he didn't get out but where was he? I was hysterical running around calling and pretty soon crying. I even was squeaking his toys which always brings him but no Scooter. I looked all through the house and still couldn't find him. I was getting ready to go out front when he raced into the kitchen absolutely hyper. Where he had been I do not know but he was scared. I kissed him about a thousand times I was so grateful to see him but I still cannot think where he had been. What a terrible terrible feeling to think he was lost. I do love him so. |
I can so relate. Thankfully he appeared quickly! Darcy likes to escape and run to the neighbors house and scratch on their door! At least if she gets out, I know where she's headed but they have BEGGED me to sell her to them so in the back of my mind I wonder what would happen if she got out and I didn't know... I know they wouldn't take her but what about someone else? Scary thought! Glad Scooter is safe and sound! |
OMG glad he is safe and sound! Do you have a deck? Jersey has gotten under mine and I had no idea where he was. I think once he was under there he got scared and didn't know how to get out. |
I'm confused! Was he in the house all of the time or did you leave the door open and he ran into the house from the yard? Anyway, I'm so glad he's fine and I think we have all had a similar experience at some point. They're so darn good at finding hiding places! |
I don't know where he had been. He uses a doggie door from the yard to the house so he could have been outside somewhere, I just don't know. I checked the entire yard and there is no deck for him to hide under. Stinker...almost gave me a heart attack. |
well at least you didn't give yourself a heart attack |
Whew! glad he came running in...that had to be scary |
I have a rather large grassy backyard. Copper really can't get out, but occasionally he disappears around a corner and I can't see him and he doesn't always respond...so I just yell, "Treat!" Works every time. He comes running. It makes me laugh. Ok, not the best way to train a dog to come, but it does solve that panic feeling when you can't quickly find your 4 lb. companion! (And yes, I do stand outside when he is out or at least in the doorway.) |

They sure are sneaky little devils arent they..lol.. |
I can also relate.... I have a 1-bedroom condo..... I lost Riley for like 10 minutes the first or second day I had him! I went into a Major PANIC mode and could NOT find him anywhere. I didn't realize he had run into the bedroom. I looked under the bed and saw these 2-eyes peeping back at me. At that very Moment I began to teach him the COME Command, with Treats! LOL!!!!!!!!! :) |
Boy do I know that feeling. Brandi got out one day while I was having work done on my house. She must of slipped out when the painters left through the garage door. Anyway she was out at least 15 minutes before I noticed she was gone. I panic, my heart stopped and I search my 3 sty town home at least 3 times before it darn on me that with so much traffic coming in and out of the house that day, she may have gotten out. Thankfully for me, Brandi has to stopped and smell every blade of grass. She can't go two steps without stopping to smell something so she hadn't gotten very far. Also my neighbhors spotted her and got her for me. I just ran up to her and hugged her so hard she kind of popped like a balloon. It's amazing to me how a 5lb furball can cause me so much anxiety. |

zcb- I'm glad you found him. I had that incident with Coco only she actually ran away after only 3 days of us having her. Our neighbors probably thought someone was being murdered the way I was crying and screaming! We found her though, she was in our other neighbors yard sitting there shaking, she didn't know how to get back home :( |
Thank goodness! I have a funny though....the housekeeper called us in a complete panic once....she thought she must have accidently let one out because she couldn\'t find them anywhere. I left work to come look and when I walked in and started going through the house---little Piper crawled out from behind the pillows on the bed with this expression of "What? I\'m trying to get some beauty sleep here!" |
