Its just a word. Cracks me up how ppl get their panties in a bunch over it here. As a breeder I just EDUCATE. Alot of people just don't know so I take the time to educate them about the breed. I don't get all stressed out over a word though. |

My starr is only 3 lbs BUT has biiiiig long legs.... like she's on stilts.... but a really tiny body/frame.... people keep asking can they have a pup of hers and wonder why I say no- she's too small at the hips to breed... plus these people got a dog and got rid of it 12hrs later because it had fleas and wee'd on the rug [it was 3 months old]... sigh people.... next time anyone asks I'M gonna say saucer! |

Our very first Yorkie is 15 lbs too. He was our very first and hubby has slowly taken him over -haha- but we get that all the time! Nope he's 100% Yorkie, all 15 lbs and floppy ears of him and he is the BEST baby ever! He goes everywhere with us, gives the BEST hugs and snuggles and we love him to death :) |

As long as someone is willing to listen I explain that a Yorkie is a Yorkie is a Yorkie. That there is only ONE size according to AKC standards and that is under 7 lbs. I go on to explain that if a "Breeder" uses that adjetive to describe Yorkies then they should RUN the other way. Most of the time people are interested and appreciative. I continue to explain that it is very important to educate yourself on Yorkies cause they aren't for everyone, that you have to be careful of lp and ls and that they can be quite a challenge to potty train. I have found that taking time to be courteous and educate is far better than being snippy and snobby. On the other hand, just DON'T ask how much I paid for my guys 'cause it's none of your business :D I do have a snappy answer for that one. |
well i'll admit, whrn i was looking for a dog, i knew it had to be a small dog. i thought i too wanted a tea cup dog. untill i started looking and then learned the truth. Some people really do breed them and sell them as this. but they are really just bred down to be that size and are sold much higher and generally sicker. I'm thankful i learned that and am well pleased in my 6 lb aveerage baby. Im still a learning mamma, had him a year now but i think im doing ok. Do need to walk him....but tats an issue un another thread. |
