average size of yorkies? What is the average size for a yorkie? My guy is 6 months old and 3-4 pounds. Just curious about other yorkies. |
I have 2 yr old that's 4lbs and a 13 wk old that's 2 lbs 4 oz. |
My 17 month old Bailey is 4lbs and 27 month old Jesse is 3lbs. The standard for yorkies is 3 to 7 pounds I believe, but there are yorkies affectionally called "teapots" that can weigh much more. |
Standard is must not exceed 7 lbs, I just looked that up lol teehee...my Bella was 8.6 lbs, took her to the vet yesterday and she weighed in at 9.7 lbs:eek: she has gained a pound in just 5 mos and she is 2 yrs old...I think I need to cut back on the treats:rolleyes: |
Yep, standard Yorkies are not to exceed 7lbs. But between all the backyard breeding and puppy mills, etc, Yorkies can get huge fast. Jackson is a healthy 15lbs. :) |
Teegy is almost 16 months and was 5.4lbs last weigh in a month ago. For show dogs there is a breed standard but I know people who have 9 & 10 pound Yorkies and I think it also depends on the genetics of the parents. I think Teegy is a midget until I see my friends two Yorkies who are 4 pounds. |

Lucky is 22 1/2 months old and he is a hairline from 10 healthy pounds....and he's quite proud of it!! He sometimes 'thinks' he is much larger....lol |
