Advice From The Police I was visiting my friend and she has 2 dogs a St Bernard and a Shih tsu. She has a sign in her window saying Beware Shih Tsu on duty and one that says Beware St Bernard on Duty. The police car stopped in front of her house because Brandy was outside playing and they were watching her play catch with my friend's brother. One of the officers told my friend that if she was smart she would not advertise that she has a Shih Tsu in her home. He said it wasn't too bad with the St Bernard sign but when you have a small dog it's not wise to broadcast it you never know. I have a sign in front of my fence saying Careful Basset Hounds at Play but I don't have anything mentioning my Shorkie or my Yorkie. We have a 6 1/2 ft privacy fence which would be impossible to climb over and it's also pad locked on both sides but I still won't make anyone aware that we have the two little dogs. The officer said alot of people put those signs in their windows and it's really a foolish thing to do especially if you live in a private home. Just thought I would pass it on. |
That's good advice. Thanks for sharing. |
Its sad that people cannot put these signs up in fear that some low life will steal their beloved pet. Thanks for the tip, its good advice. |
It is best not to advertise it on your car with a yorkie bumber sticker also |
I have a sticker on my car but i park it in the garage i also have a welcome sign with a yorkie painted on it but it is inside the second set of doors so it cant be seen from the street but on my bedroom window i have a sign that says in case or fire or emergency please save the yorkie and has a tiny little cartoon yorkie on it i also have one for each of the cats on the kitchen window and one for the turtles on the dining room window and one for the guinea pig on my 17 year old sisters window i guess i might be in trouble if someone decides they want my animals:eek: Now lets see then climb in the 1x1 foot pain of glass that makes up my windows;) |
I am going to make a sign that says "Wife at home" and place it in front of the House |

Too funny. Thanks for cheering me up this evening. First: I haven't posted a yorkie sign because I had already thought of the same thing. Even though I have a privacy fence and my babies are only out when I am, you just never know if and when somebody is going to break in your house and take them. Second: Do you think we'll get faster responses from the "Husband at Home" sign in the window or Craigslist Free stuff, maybe even Kijiji???? I'm even willing to put the timeframe on there, like a store sign. lol |
My sign says "shodanusmc lives here! Make his day!" :D |

I need a Joe Horn lives next door sign. :D |
Hey now.....It is worth a try! I just have to make sure she does not see the sign. She is a lot stronger than I am, and no where near as nice. |

Yea baby yorkie, I was thinking about the same thing. Our home is fully alarmed but you never know. I used to have a 6 ft iguana who loved to look out of the window when we had our apartment. He was vey good for scaring off visitors. When people saw him they kind of backed away. He passed away a few years ago, maybe I'll get a watch iguana to guard my pets. |
