Well, I did it and now I'm DONE!!!! 4 Attachment(s) LOL!!! Sneak a peak at my new avatar and signature line. Me thinks my pack is as big as it is gonna get. I've been working on adopting a rescue for awhile (quite the process) and wanted to wait until it was a done deal to say anything. I'm paranoid of the proverbial 'jinx'. Anyway, another little girl at the same rescue was returned from her adopted home for having 2 accidents in 5 days and so, dammit, took her, too. Bridget was listed on petfinder as Cherie. She is a 6yr old, former Breeder, was just spayed two days ago. She is skin and bones. The vertebrae on the back of her spine are sharp through her skin. She hasn't eaten since we brought her home yesterday. She has pooped quite a bit and is now down to liquid. I'm not concerned about serious health conditions right now as she was vetted complete with shots, teeth cleaning etc...at the spaying. I'm chalking it up to stress, nerves and medication, we'll wait and see. Not too long, she's too skinny to wait too long. She immediately glommed onto my DH. adores him and will not leave his lap. So, acclimating it appears will be fairly smooth. Brie was listed on petfinder as Nova. She is a 6yr old, former Breeder. She was spayed sometime ago. Her teeth were neglected and many many were removed. Her tongue hangs out to one side permanently like so many of the chinese crested/mexican hairless ugliest dog winners. But the kicker on that is that at sometime either in a dog fight or by a bad groomer a notch was cut out of the tip of her tongue, so that adds to her overall ""charm"". She has a lot of puppy spunk in her. She is a tiny bit heftier than Bridget, Can still count her ribs though. She hasn't eaten either. I don't know if it is loss of appetite or not finding the right item that will entice her. We took our entire clan to the rescue for the pick up and all four of ours got to meet these two in a large room. It was fine at first sight. Not a sign of aggression out any of them. Very relieved. Right now as I type this on my laptop. Bridget is on DH's lap. Bear is on the couch curled up beside them. Baxter is curled up beside me. Baby is laying on my arm trying to hinder my typing. Brie is in my lap and Bug is on my feet, (recliner) all sleeping. We've already had potty accidents, and of course that will take awhile. But, thankfully the first hurdle is overcome, I haven't lost my peaceable kingdom. Attachment 330533 Attachment 330534 Attachment 330535 Attachment 330536 |
Wow, congrats on your two new rescues! They are adorable and love the pictures. :) |
Congratulation! They are all so adorable. Accidents will happen that is why I belly band all the boys. If one marks the spot they will all want to mark that spot. You might want to feed Brie seperate and maybe add some baby chicken sticks in her food. Not a lot just for taste. Good luck and bless you for rescuing. Keep us updated. |
I can't believe she was returned for a toilet accident. Big giant kudos to you for taking the two. If I had more money and space I'd be doing the same thing. And your new avatar is great |
Bless your heart for taking them in. It's unbelievable that she was returned because of potty accidents since she was just spayed. That almost always happens. I'm so glad you brought them into your lives. I hope you all will have a lot of fun together. I hope the eating begins soon. I'm sure it is very stressful for her after all she's been through.:( |
Awwww. Cute with a Capial C.........All of them!! Congrats!! :) |
Awwww.......obviously you have a heart of gold!!! Those rescues are lucky to have you!! and im sure you feel the same about them!! God Bless you and your DH for being there for them!! ;) |
Wow and congrats they are both just so adorable! |
Congratulations on two new babies! I'm so glad everything is going so well other than the eating. I'm sure that will start getting better quickly. All of your babies are adorable. |

Many blessings to you and your family for opening your heart and home to these precious babies.:) |
Beautiful babies! :) Congratulations to all of you! |
What a wonderful updated story about all of your little ones. it sounds like things are going wonderful with your new expanded pack. Thank you for opening your heart and home to your new little rescues. They sure are all adorable. :) |
Bless you. They are beautiful. |
Lorelei, What a great heart you have to rescue two beautiful pups. Sounds like you're going to have your hands full. Can't wait for more photos :) |
Congrats on your two new additions! I believe in "the more you give, the more you receive" adage...the love will be flowing in your home :) |
What a great bunch you have there. How wonderful to take 2 rescues in to your home at once. |
No behavorial issues, at all. Broke out the big guns...white meat chicken, so food has been ingested..LOL when all else fails, chicken usually does it. As soon as Bridget's bowels firm up, she'll be squared away, except.... Leather ear???!!!!?? okay, this is new one on me. The rescue people told me that all I need to do is rub alcohol on them and then massage Pantene Pro V into them??? Does that sound right? She has leather ears bad, both of them. Never seen anything like it. Dark brown and could make tiny little change purses out of them..LOL She has definitely staked her claim on DH. Small growls emanate when one of the others approach. This is fine as none of the others really used him for lap detail. He is babying her so, it is working out for everyone. Brie has found her permanent and proper place on my body between Baby and Bug. I wish I could find a way to tuck her tongue in when she sleeps. I worry about it drying out. Gosh she has the prettiest wavy coat. Beautiful silver collar as well. So, anyone have suggestions on the leather ear, I'd appreciate it. I also appreciate the kudos, but I think they give us much more than we give them. I love the gratitude that rescued dogs give you. They know and they show it. And I'm selfish, I had lots of clothes that my girls had grown out of, now I can use them again... that's really the only reason I did it..... |
Leather ear is a type of fungus. I had a dog who came to me with black, leather like ears....his skin was also a mess! My vet had me bathe him in Selsun blue shampoo with a 50/50 warm water and vinegar rinse after. I was amazed at how it cleared up. You could simply dab that on his ears with cotton balls. Vinegar is acidic and fungus is a base..so that is why it works. :) I had suggested this to Jencar98 in the past with one of her pups and it worked...so you might want to pm her and ask about it. |
I meant beautiful silver color...not collar....sorry, too late to just edit. |
Ladyjane, thanks!!!!! |
Here are a couple of threads about it in case you need to try something else later: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ather-ear.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ather-ear.html Let us know how it works out.:) |
They are adorable. You really do get so much joy from adopting, don't you? Six years is a wonderful, sweet age too. |
