Need to Try something new So Troy delays eating until around 10pm at night despite me leaving his food out when I leave for work. I figure that's when he's hungry but I also believe he's a bit board with his food. So we're due for a change. I was thinking of trying out Merricks. I need a few more suggestions and then I'll get a bag. The place where I get his food usually will allow me to take food back if he doesn't take to it, so that's not an issue. |
food change I think I tried almost everything out there and Belle didn't like anything or she'd eat it at first then quit. I finally tried "Fresh Pet' and she jumps up and down until I put the plate down. I keep holding my breath that she won't stop eating it but she has been on it for 6 months and shows no sign of stopping. They have several kinds but I buy the chicken and vegs and the beef one too and alternate. I buy it in the pet isle of my grocery store it's refridgerated. The pet stores that have ref. products carry it too. I feed her in the am and then some before bed. I also leave some dry kibble down for free feeding. |
Sometimes Poppy will get bored of her food, so what I do is change how I give it to her every day to make it interesting. She eats wet food in pouches which come in different flavours, I also have different flavoured kibble for her. Some days I will add kibble to her wet food and other days I dont, some days I will put cheese or gravy on her dinner and some days I dont. I always use the same brand of food for her but in different flavours. I remember when I was little I was a really fussy eater, when my mum found something I would actually eat she used to give it to me ALL the time. In the end I ate it so much I didnt like it anymore.. so thats why I try and give Poppy a bit of variety. :) |
Have you tried mixing wet? That's pretty much the only way Jackson will eat. He usually just eats once a day around 6pm and I mix dry kibble and wet. I use Acana kibble (and rotate between flavors) and rotate all different kinds of wet food, ranging from Wellness Core, to Merrick's, to Go!, to Nature's Variety. |
So this weekend was the trial and error with Troy's new food. I got him Merricks Granny Pot Pie. Lets just say he goes bonkers over it. I did try tansitioning him with mixing half old/half new but he just ate around the old. Stools were soft but still formed the first day but no tummy upset or serious changes. Today he's all good loving his new food. Thanks for listening! |
