I don't think you'll regret for a minute getting Dudley a sister or a brother. I think you should follow your heart when picking one. I understand why you'd want to get one from the same breeder as Dudley, but if you prefer to get a younger puppy, that's what you should do. Fourteen months is still a baby, and I'm not really sure about this, but Dudley might adjust easier to a younger puppy because he will know it's a baby. Whatever you decide to do, I think it will be wonderful to bring another little one into your lives for both you and Dudley . |
I am very excited for you and Dudley! Wishing you the best in making a decision. I believe the right age for a second dog depends on the dog and you. My second, Teddy, was 8 months old when I brought him home. I didn't want to go through puppyhood again, and I thought Maximo would prefer to have someone closer in age. Teddy was still puppy-ish enough for both us. :p Everything worked out beautifully for us. My fears of an older dog adjusting to our habits and routines were unfounded. Teddy took to his new home as if I had raised him myself. |
