I'm not so sure about this.. So Coco lost most of her teeth. I can't really tell if she lost alll of her mollars. I know some of them fell because I found them. Her canines on the bottom fell but she has double canines on the top. What should I do?? I play tug of war with her. I would really prefer not to take her to the vet because I don't want her put under second time in the last 2 months (got spayed). Her teeth were falling out wonderfully when she was getting spayed so they didn't recommend it. What happens if they don't lose their baby teeth??? HELP! |
Well, they should have pulled those baby canines when she got spayed even though her other teeth were falling out. Try to start wiggling it yourself and give her chewies to chew on. |
Those canines are hard as rock...I've tried wiggling, pulling, yanking toys and playing tug of war..so I should just keep trying that?? |
Gently playing tug of war seems to work for Tucker. He loves to fight over socks or I use an old towel. He's lost most of his teeth this way. |
Keep trying, Nobella. Or, you may have to brush and floss between those two teeth! :D |
Will she let you brush or touch her teeth? Shelby won't so I have started using doggy yummy toothpaste on gauze to rub her teeth. Yesterday I knocked out one of her back molars? with gauze on your finger you might be able to move it a little every day. good luck. |
My vet removed the canines when my dogs were spayed and neutered he said they would have never came out on their own. |
If they don't come out, you will have to get them removed because of the bacterial buildup that causes cavities. It's too bad they didn't just go ahead and remove them when she was spayed. That would have been better. :( |

Or tie a string around it and give it a yank! :D Ouch!!!!!!! |
Bella was the same way. They werent ready to come out when she was spayed so I waited...and wait...and wait...she played tug, I brushed her teeth and everything. It wouldnt budge. I ended up having to have them removed. She had a total of 7 removed! |
I had the same problem with Ruby. Only some of her teeth fell and now she has double rows on top and bottom. I was going to have them pulled but my vet suggested not to a it could be quite painful and the thing he stresssed most about was that she could under go an infection. Also he said if it doesn't intefere with her eating then I really should have them pulled. I really would likr to though. I just don't know what to do. |
Well yes it would have been nice to do with when she got spayed, but they didn't. So now what? I do brush her teeth daily. She lets me brush. I will try to floss between them to get them loose. What about the mollars? I can't exactly knock those loose by playing tug of war. |
Well, from personal experience, I'd have them pulled ASAP! I waited and then started to notice that black plaque started building up between one of the double teeth! It was so gross, to imagine she had to have that in her mouth. I brush, and brushed, it wouldn't come out. After they had the double row removed, there is still a TINY black stain on one of her bottom teeth that will not come out :( As for the infection, her vet gave her stitches on the molar holes and he also sent her home with some antibiotics. |
