Cha-Ching: The million dollar dog tooth! Daisy :aimeeyork really should be the poster child for why people should buy from a GOOD breeder and not a BYB or puppy mill. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars on her over the years for her many medical problems...but...now, I'm facing this:  THE MILLION DOLLAR DOG TOOTH  Daisy broke a tooth on a marrow bone a while back. I figured gee, I'll take her up to Boston and see the Board Certified Vet Dentist so I could make sure my little baby with all her problems had the safest and best care. I had a consult that went well. Then Daisy :aimeeyork tricked me. Her blood work came up with liver enzymes that were not good and urine issues. This led to a repeat of blood work and a better look at the urine. We found that Daisy had an infection of E. Coli. She went on 3 weeks of antibiotics that were not cheap. I finished the antibiotics and we went left more blood earlier this week and more urine. I just got the call and her urine is not good :( Daisy now needs a spa day on Monday with the Radiologist. We need to find out what is going on in her bladder and kidneys before she can safely undergo anesthesia. She needs another antibiotic too! This is a million dollar tooth. One friend of mine suggested I eat Ramen Noodles for a while to pay for all this. Another friend suggested I talk to Karen about buying some boots with fur for Daisy :aimeeyork GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR But she is worth it. My little cutie patootie. |
Geez! You can't seem to get a break! Hoping the urine/kidney issues are minor.... maybe from the e coli or ABs to treat it? |
Oh poor Daisy. She's so lucky to have you to take care of her. Umm....do you think she'll feel better with some special fur boots? I'm happy to donate some for the cause.:) |
It's a good thing we think they are worth every penny! lol Hopfully it will all turn out to be minor and she can get those fur boots too. |

The C&S showed that the antibiotic used (Clavamox) would clear the infection. We gave it for 3 weeks and it did not clear. So they want to take a look to see if there is something more going on. The urine concentration was low but her liver, kidneys, etc values are normal. Nevertheless she is not clear for any type of anesthesia unless the tooth becomes an emergency. |
Praying for Daisy. Hoping it turns out to be something very minor!!! Peggy, Monkey & Maddie :daisy: |

Thank you ! We do too! |
Awww poor Daisy. I hope everything turns out well with her. You sound like you have a positive attitude though. And who knows, maybe next time you go to your mailbox you'll be surprised with a check you never saw coming. Hey...........you never know. Good luck to both of you - I'll keep Daisy in my prayers. |
YIKES! You guys sure are having a run of bad luck :( Do you have any idea how she picked up the E Coli bacteria? (curious you know?!) I want to add my get well soon wishes to those already posted; give her a hug from all of us please. |
With that price tag she must be getting some of these :D Of course great big hugs going out to Daisy. She has the very best mom and dad that all their money could possibly buy. |
I'm so sorry to hear this, thinking of you all & hoping all goes well! |
That poor little girl and having deep empty pockets is a well known feeling here too with Zada's knee surgeries and Spicy's cataract surgery. I sure hope your little munch snaps back quickly and goes on without further problems. Prayers will go out to you both. |
I hope Daisy will be ok. How much did you say that marrow bone cost?:D |
