I would report that vet to the BBB as well. I think you can do it online. I'm so sorry that happened to you! |
That is so sad. I would of been so mad. |
WHAT!!!! OMG...i cant believe that. So what do you think happened? |

wow, this is really making me think that I might not want to have sami or ted neutered?? I think I might just let them wear belly bands for the rest of their life! This really gives me a whole different look on messing with mother nature  |
You too, Athina? Doesn't it just make you furious! I could blow a gasket just thinking about it again. Of course, the vet is never to blame! If they would just say they were sorry, and sometimes things happen or something to show they cared, it might help a little bit. But everytime we brush their teeth, or their tongue is hanging out---THERE IT IS FOR ALL TO SEE---Makes one mad all over again. Also, her tummy has little bumps all up and down the scar. At first, he said it would go away, and now he says it is scar tissue. He was probably so rough on her that he caused it. They had a spay neuter clinic here, and they cut them about an inch is all. Poor Snoodles whole belly was cut open. Of course, I would never take a little dog to a spay neuter clinic as she is too little and they do them free, and on an assembly line. I went down to see for myself, and it was really something. They also just did little cuts. Guess my vet was from the old school! But, one doesn't know about these things, but once one learns, we won't forget! Pat |

Athina, I overheard someone talking about having lazer surgery done for neutering. Appearantly is was done in Guelph Ontario somewhere. It might have been done at the Ontario Veternarian College. Don't quote me on that but if i see that person again anytime soon i will ask and then let you know ok. :) |
That is just terrible. I don't even understand how something like that could happen... |
No problems like that have come from my vet over the years. But, I did but one little beauty and her tongue was whacked accidently when her nails were being clipped and she decided to bite the clippers.. She was taken to the vet and he said to leave it alone if it stopped bleeding. Her then mom followed the vet's advice and all was fine.. |
That's terrible to hear! I would have never thought we had to worry about tongues being cut when we take our babies in for a spay and to remove baby teeth. |
I never thought of it either! But believe me you, I do now. I clip her myself, cut her nails, clean her ears, and anything else that needs done at the time. I will not put her in the hands of anyone else, as long as I am still able to do her. That one time, did it for me. Who would have thought that would happen? Athina! My gosh you certainly paid enough to have your baby pampered, and her tongue not cut! One wonders what really happened, doesn't it? Mine said she probably bit it while under anesthesia, and yours said it was during the teeth extraction. Guess we will never know, but I know one thing, she won't have surgery with this vet again! Pat |
This sounds sort of awful, but I think you could probably take the vet to small claims court for property damage. Yorkies are fairly valuable dogs and he did something that "marred" your dog and perhaps lowered the monetary value. It's a cold way to look at it, but it sounds like something maybe the law could get behind. |
I don't know really if I can do anything. How can I prove it was done at the vet's? Especially when he says she probably never had that tooth? Even though I brushed it before lthe procedure? Also, it has been 15 months since it happened! Just rubs my nerves raw! Pat |

Susansmom- I totally understand where your coming from. It's not like i'm going to ever sell, show or breed Ruby but the value of the breed standard was altered by the vet (in a very small way) but it was. And the fact that i do have to look at it now for the rest of her life and remember that stupid vet. Ruby is still cuter than ever and my little baby and i love her soooo much but it just makes me sad that something like that happened to her for no reason. |
