So sad tonight Because we are leaving town for our vacation we have to put Lil Bit and Beamer into boarding and Reno and Clover have to go back to the Rescue group until we come home. They picked up Reno and Clover a few minutes ago. It was all I could do not to cry. Clover may be adopted out this weekend, so we may only be getting Reno back for a while. I hated seeing them being put in the travel crate, and I am sure it reminded them of when they were kept caged up in the puppy mill. Even Bruce had moist eyes! They both came looking like the neglected puppy mill dogs they were, but they left with healthier coats, brand new collars with matching leads, bully sticks and treats and their own blanket and beds - and some bows for Clover, although she really can't keep one in her hair yet. I made it clear that if they are adopted while we are away that the collars and leads, blankets etc are theirs and go to their new homes with them. (They have the harnesses they came with for walking, but their tags are on their collars) Even Beamer whined a little when they left. When you foster you know it is only temporary, but it still is hard letting them go. |
Awe, I'm sorry, that would be so hard. I've got to tell you that I really admire you foster mothers, you are doing such a wonderful thing, saving lives and ensuring every dog ends up in a suitable home. God bless you, and hope you can enjoy your vacation and not feel too bad. |
Very bittersweet with the Foster's. It sounds like you have given them the TLC they needed to be ready for their forever homes. Have a great vacation. |
Oh my heart is breaking too. Just think of the wonderful guidance and love they have received in your home. They will be so much more able to fit into their forever homes due to you! You are a blessing. Have a wonderful, well deserved vacation. Take a deep breath and clear your mind, so you will have a great time. :D |
I know it's hard, but by being foster parents, you are doing such a wonderful thing! Just by showing them a little bit of love and attention, you are setting them down a (hopefully) much happier path. Alex's foster mom was so wonderful; she only had him for a month or so, but I really think she helped him become the loving, wonderful little guy he is today! |
They will be fine. You deserve a vacation for all the good things you do. Relax, and enjoy yourself! |
They will all be fine and if clover gets adopted its great news. have fun on your vacation |

He sounded really nice and he already has one Yorkie.:) |
It must be so hard to leave them! And I agree, foster moms are wonderful. Levi's foster mom is amazing and still checks in on him. I hope you have a great vacation though! |
It would be really hard for me, too. What you are doing is a selfless thing though. You are giving them a chance at a forever home and a taste of one at the same time. I'm sure they will do very well. Hope you have a wonderful vacation.:) |

Bittersweet for sure:) It may be easier on you (and him) if he is adopted while you are going so you both won't have to experience letting go again...SORRY Have a geat vacation, you deserve it:thumbup: |
Thats really sad :( but it will be great if Clover gets adopted! I agree you deserve your vacation because you do wonderful work, have a great time! |
That is really heartbreaking , you are now separated, and also heartwarming, because you foster the little puppy, foster parents must always receive an award. |
Thats a hard situation, but you've done right by the dogs by fostering them. Nothing will replace them, but it gives you a chance to take in another and show it the love and care it's needing. :) |
