Talk/Growl ALL the time. Our Khloe was one year old in September. She is adorable when she talks/growls when she is happy to see someone but it has gotten out of control. She will watch out the window or watch/look at me and does this talk/growl very low pitch. When she wants to get your attention, it slowly gets louder and louder. She hardly ever barks but does this talking ALOT. It this normal for yorkies? And should I try to break her from it. It seems to be happening more and more. |
This is weird... my one male Yorkie used to try and join in on conversations... seriously... sitting at the table discussing whatever, he'd be on the floor with constant, intentional noise (not howling or whining) coming out of his mouth like he was actually trying to talk! Too funny! |
That is what she does. Like she is trying to tell you something. And it gets louder and louder if you don't understand (which we don't lol) |

Although there are times when I'd rather her not, and times when I have had a long day and could live without it, I don't find it to be a major issue unless she becomes violent. (: |

Personally, I would encourage it... if she ever learns how to talk you may have a million dollar Yorkie on your hands! Look out, David Letterman! |
It is very cute but sometimes..it's like...ok enough is enough. Then we start laughing and she get louder. And you are right, it is hard to explain the noise. It's from down in her throat lot of the time. If she is just happy, it is a howl. But when she is "talking" it comes from deep in her throat. |
Rocco does this too. He also gets louder and louder if you ignore him, but honestly, it's the cutest thing! I'm trying to name it when he does it so I can get him to do it on command. He even pauses, waits for me to respond, then will do his 'grumbly growl' as a response :D. |
Roccosmommy....I started laughing out loud when I read your reply. You are right, she waits for a response. I always wonder...what am I supposed to say? LOL |
Oh man, that's all that Winnie does. She will just look at me and growl, and if I ignore her it gets louder and louder. Or when she wants something she does it. The most annoying thing is that she puts her toes and bones in the crack of the couch (on purpose!) and growls at me, expecting me to get them, so i get them for her and she does it again! grr haha |
