Why is she doing this???? HELP. Macy is 100% potty trained. I can't remember the last accident she had in the house. She never goes when I am at work. One thing though. I still live with my parents and every single night, Macy likes to sleep on my mom's lap on the couch. I guess she gets too comfortable and doesn't want to move and just goes pee pee on my mom. The thing is that whenever she sits on mine, she NEVER goes. Or my brothers. Anyone. Just my mom. It's like Macy is marking my mom as her territory or something, lol. Do you have this same problem?? |
Hmm, that is interesting. What is your Mom's personality like? My dog can sense when people are overly soft and she knows her limits with everyone. If it happens at night, is she the only one who holds your Furbaby at that time? Or have you and others held her and not had the same experience? Perhaps it could be a territorial action. Either way, I think that it would be beneficial to go outside immediately when it happens. I know it doesn't help after she has already eliminated, but that will make her more conscience of the fact of what is going on. (: |
Macy sleeps with me every night in my bed. No cage or anything. But before we go to bed, she would sleep on my mom's lap. My mom is like a mom to Macy, lol. Macy just loves to sleep with her when we're watching TV or whatever on the couch. If my mom wasn't there, Macy would just sleep on the top of couch and when my mom eventually gets to the couch, Macy would wake up and run to her and just sleep on her lap. Everytime I try to pick Macy up from my mom's lap, she would get really upset. That is when we see the pee spot on my mom's shorts/pants. The thing is that my mom NEVER feels it whenever Macy goes, so we have no idea when she goes. |
Is Macy awake when she pees on your Mom? Is is alot of pee or a little bit? Immediate fix would be to put a diaper on her (to protect your Mom). Could very well be marking (if she's awake). Maybe take her out to potty immediately before laying on your Mom's lap, and every 30 min - 1 hr. to allow her to relieve herself. My male doesn't pee on me, but he will start marking more when he feels insecure. I found if I give him more attention, he marks less. Also if she's doing it in her sleep, she may feel so comfortable... like back with her littermates and her Mom, where Mommie is expected to 'take care of' that stuff! |
If it just happens when you go to remove her from your Mom's lap, maybe it's excited or submissive behavior. Instead of you picking her up, what happens if your Mom picks her up and hands her over? Or puts her on the floor so you can pick her up from "neutral" territory? |

Instead of you picking Macy up off your Mom's lap, have your Mom pick her up and put her on the floor, to try to keep her from becoming upset. You will have to try different methods to determine exactly 'when' she is peeing in order to fix it. |

Ziva ("fully" trained , 18 months, 6+lbs) has been known to pee on me when she has had an active or stressful day (with no naps)she will wait to curl up with me and sleep so deeply she will wet. I don't feel it until I move because she gets so warm and "soft".She was quite upset the last time she did it so I know it's not on purpose.(She finished peeing outside, so I think it was just a "leak") She has a small capacity and I try to be careful to take her to potty before we snuggle in.(there are 5 of us here so things can get busy, she is a little hyper, and I am her "mommy") |
Sorry it took a while for me to reply. Quote:
