Riding the Greenline

I have been looking for experiences that the girls and I can share together. So I bought a bike. A big old pink one (to match most of the girl's clothes),. I had them put a big basket on it so both of the girls can be comfy.

Memphis took an old RR track and turned it into a 7 mile (soon to be 15) bike trek through the city. It only crosses traffic in a couple of places. It is real real nice , and we call it the Greenline.

So the girls and I picked our bike up yesterday, and then headed to the greenline for a 13 mile bike ride. Mind you now, this is their first time ever doing this, but if they are with Mommy I think anything goes.

I got their safety vests at WALMART of all places.

Ok yesterday was my first day, and you KNOW the other bike riders were all over me about the helmet, so I will be getting one. I think this might be my first time back on a bike in about 40 years. Things have changed.

What a great bike and I LOVE that huge basket -- perfect for them both to ride. You have to think about those little pink bike helmets for them. How adorable that would be and safe too!

We have a place like that in our town too for walking and riding bikes. Only thing is you have to load up the bikes to get there. So, I wind up not using it like I should. I used to walk it on my "library day" as it goes right by the library. I have gotten bad about going there too. Need to revive some of my old good habits! Thanks for inspiration!

Love it! The poochies in the basket are absolutely adorable, great bike. Being able to take the girls is great incentive, I am sure to get out there. That basket is perfect for them.

Ok send me the link for the doggie helmet. I saw some goggles, but heck, they were like 30.00 a pair.

That basket caused a LOT of inquires on the trail, I think a lot of people are headed to my bike shop to get them put on.

Ok I am going to be the first one to admit it on here....Yorkies and show dogs, as in ILOVE TO SHOW OFF MY GIRLs. My hair may not be fixed, and I might not look cute, but they step out, they have the outfits, the hair (looks all messed up on picture because of the wind), the girls are tight. And do I love it when people ooohh and ahhhh????? OF COURSE I DO.. I look for places to take them to show them off. THey turned the bike trial OUT. Everyone loved them.

I can just imagine the attention they got on the trail, they are too cute in that basket! They look adorable and they do look like they are turned out for their ride. It's the cutest picture. :cool:

Quick ?... Does the helmet bother their ears if they cannot be up? Just wondering. I have been wanting to do this but haven't found helmets with ear holes. :o

I LOVE that! Awesome! You look fabulous and so do they!

I took up riding my bike with Cerise and it's been so much fun. I like your basket better than my Snoozer because yours can carry other stuff too...like groceries. I am going to look into one of those. I do have a rack with two panniers but sometimes you need more cargo space.

LOL not everyone wears helmets. I don't and most of the world doesn't. Helmets really are for racers and kids. Adult bike commuters and casual riders on bikes that sit up straight don't ride at high speeds, and have been riding successfully without a helmet since the bicycle was invented.

I'm lucky enough to live in a city that is bike friendly. A lot of other major cities are becoming bike friendly too.

How do you keep them in there? My two would be jumping out all the time! lol! I love the bike! Looks nice and easy, not like all these new bikes with all the gears and buttons!

They are adorable! Have fun with them!

That's an awesome basket. I recently got back on my bike after a 5-year break. But I don't feel confident enough to ride with Ruby in her basket, so my husband puts her on his bike and they follow me. I think Ruby likes to watch me. :)
