Considering a short cut 1 Attachment(s) I'm considering taking Penny in for a very short cut. We've never tried it, but I think it might be best for her. She has allergies and scratches a lot which creates a lot of matting. She also has problems with a lot of eye gunk due to the allergies. I can't get any kind of tie to stay in to keep her hair out of her eyes; they all slip out of her thin hair. Would you all share your pics of short cuts? I'm nervous about this, but I think it's something we should at least consider. Here's our pretty Penny. |
1 Attachment(s) I recently did the same thing for Ben. He would never keep a bow or barrett in and his hair was always in his eyes. He loves to run our property and was bringing a little of the outdoors in each time we came back in. After I picked little flat green seed things out of his coat for over an hour, I said we need a change! So here he is -- everyone says it does not look like Ben, but I think he likes it! |
I believe they ought to be comfortable in whatever length they are in. Don't be nervous. Maybe you could just go gradually shorter, so you won't regret an extreme cut? |
<--------- My avatar picture was taken right after Roxie had her hair cut. I always keep her hair short. |
I keep Ziva pretty short, because she is too busy to sit still for much brushing and her hair is really fine (no mats). But this year I am growing her hair in for the cooler weather- even here in FL she was cold last year. The short hair is way easier for rinsing out shampoo, she gets itchy if the least bit is left behind. Maybe trimming 1/2 way would be enough and then go all the way in spring? |
i have kept shaymus hair short but i think i will let it grow out for the winter.then cut it short in the spring.(he hates grooming) short cuts are also cute |
1 Attachment(s) Levi's hair is usually pretty short, especially over the summer. He hates the sound of shears, so he gets cuts exclusively with scissors. It's a little longer now - this picture is from May or June. It is just a lot easier and more manageable - less tangles and brushing, etc. |
I do love the short hair cuts:) Inbetween grooming I cut their bellies, their "bangs" (I don't know what they're actually called lol, and Bandit's penis hair:rolleyes:. I have to take them to the vet or PetSmart for their nails because Bandit's awful during it! |
grooming oh i know what you mean about cutting there nails.shaymus is just awful.i will be taking him to the vet from now on.:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa |
i think he looks very cute. |

2 Attachment(s) We keep Darcy's body really super short, but her face is the typical Yorkie face, with a topknot. She sheds wayyy more than the boys, and her coat fluffs instead of hanging straight, so it is better for us, and more attractive on her! |
Rizzo's hair is very similar to Penny's, he mats like crazy on his legs and belly, I was trying to grow it out, but I think I'll have to do something shorter for him. I'm trying to figure out what length and what cut to go with for him... |
Wow... I will admit seeing all of these shorter cuts is making me want to trim Max down. Both of my girls are in shorter cuts and Max's is about 3/4 of the way to the ground. Maybe I should take the plunge... EEEEKKK! lol |
I am also wondering what to do with Zach's hair. He has a groomer appointment on Saturday. He has very fine silky hair and he is impossible to brush because he won't sit still for a second. Even when I do brush it a second later he is all messed up again. I think I might go with a short hair cut but I'm a little concerned because it's kind of cold here in the winter. |
