New Yorkichon Owner 4 Attachment(s) I know that this is a primarily a yorkie site but I found a few people on here who own/have owned yorkichons and I guess I would like to hear input on some of the question I have about my new yorkichon, Jobi (Its pronounced Yobi from the YOrkie and BIchon) Here is a bit about my Yorkichon: He is about 11-12 weeks old and his coat color is like the yorkie, its texture is more like the bichon although he is still a puppy. He is a perfect lapdog and is taking housetraining/crate-training very well considering I got him late Friday night and he will now go 90% of the time in the correct area outside. He won't fuss in the crate and will usually cry about every four hours during the night to go out. He already has started fetching. Now. Some questions: Given his current coloring I am concerned that he will lose the markings that I love so much on him...now, it won't mean that I would love him less because I am already super attached but I would just be sad to see it lighten up and go away. When will his adult coat start coming in? Any comments or insights into training him? I plan on starting to teach him sit/stay/down/etc in the very near future but he hasn't shown too much treat motivation yet. |
He's very cute and I can see he is very fond of you as well. Yorkies coat usually start changing around the age of 5 months. I doubt your puppy will stay the color he is now. I'm only guessing though. You will just have to wait and see if his color becomes lighter. There is no way to know what is really a genetic question. Yorkichon = Jobi. That's really cute. Welcome to YT.:) |
Actually, I was looking more closely at the pictures and if you look at the roots of his head, I can see white. So, he may already be changing? |
He is so cute!!! I too am partial to the dark color/markings. So I cheated and got an older dog hoping that he won't change much. It worked! :D It will be wonderful to see what Jobi grows up to be. The only advice I can give is start the training ASAP. So he's not into treats, maybe it's the wrong kind? Maybe he's toy driven? Just find whatever motivates him. Training is a blessing in disguise. It will help you have a well behaved baby and it bonds you two together. Welcome to YT! |
Welcome to YT! Jobi is very cute and I wish you lots of luck with your new puppy. Sounds like you are off to a great start with potty training. As for trick training my Doodlebug was very small when he started to do tricks. My suggestion for training him would be to find a treat that he only gets for doing tricks and work at very short intervals. He's just a baby so his attention span is very limited. Dbug did quite a few tricks around 14 weeks old or so. Let me say that a little 2 lb puppy that can do tricks is a real show stopper. Make sure your treats are very tiny and yummy too. Good luck! :) |

Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk! Congrats on your new pup. :) |
Hi and welcome to YT. Jobi is super cute and the name is very creative! The colour he is at the moment is a yorkies puppy colour, most dont stay that colour and will begin to turn tan and silver/blue at around 5 months old. More then likely Jobi will turn light as he is mixed with Bichon. Good luck with the training. |
Welcome to Yt! Yobi is adorable! Congratulations!!:D |

He is adorable, Welcome to YT!!! |
My boy is all yorkie and I got him when he turned a year old. I honestly have no clue what he looked like as a puppy. But, with a yorkie, as well as a mix, sometimes you just have no idea what they will look like once they're "all grown up." :D I don't have any pics on my new laptop, but I'll try to pull up some old thread for you to see what he looked like at around 10-11 months old, a year, and now at 2. |
2 Attachment(s) Ok, I can't find what I'm looking for. Here's a pic of my 2 year old boy. I love how he still has "puppy" coloring. :D Attachment 329095 Attachment 329096 He's the one on the left. |
He's so cute :D I guess I'll just be hoping and praying that my Jobi keeps his puppy coloring... |
