I want another yorkie Bella is 7 months old now, and I"m thinking its time for a playmate for her. She is close to full grown (hasn't grown in a few weeks....weighing in at 3.5 pounds.) I have been searching for a few weeks now to try to find a perfect mate for her. I have found her baby brother.......now how to convince my hubby that I just MUST have a new baby. LOL This may not be as easy task......:D Money isn't really an issue, but are two yorkies a LOT more work?? Would it be better to go with a male or female?? I am THINKING one of each would maybe work better. I have found a male I would love to have, but if a female would be better, that would be great too. LOL. Bella loves all humans and furry creatures, even kitties, male or female, so don't think she would care which. Any ideas on how to convince the hubby???? He is a pilot and gone a LOT.....maybe I could convince him I just need another companion......UGH....LOL |
My breeder says they do better in pairs you could tell him that. I dont think 2 are any more work than one and I dont regret getting a 2nd one |

im trying to do the same thing with my Hubby! good luck! |
go for it I didn't ask. I just went and got my second one. My bf was a little suprised. But he knew I wanted a second yorkie. So I didn't hear a peep out of him. Guess I am on lucky girl : ) I think having two is much better than one. Sophie now has a playmate and I don't feel as guilty if I leave them at home. Although that rarely happens...hehe |
I went out and got another one without my hubby's ok when I got my rottweiler, and it did not go very well. LOL He was not a happy camper. Maybe he will just agree........I did mention a few times that Bella needed a baby brother and he just smiled........I didn't get the he** no. Maybe that is a good sign.....:) |
good luck!! |

Two yorkies are more work and more expense. But if you get a good match, personality wise, it is a lot of fun. I don't think male vs. female matters as much as temperament. but I would definitely suggest waiting until you had your hubby on board with the plan. It makes life so much easier in the long run. |

I have 4 dogs a yorkie, a shorkie and 2 basset hounds. I can tell you that it is alot of work. Even when we had two it was expensive and hectic but with 4 it's totally bedlam. I think the most expensive part of having multiple dogs are the vet bills other than that it's not too bad. On the other hand the more the merrier and the dogs will never be lonesome while you are out. |

I have five dogs, one yorkie, three beagles, and one Great Pyrenees. I don't know about having more than one inside, Rosie is the only inside dog. I thought about getting another but when my friend brought her boy yorkie over, Rosie was not a happy camper. Of course, she is used to being the queen of the house. I think she don't want to share the crown. :p I think if I brought another one home, my husband would pout for a day or two but he would get over it. When I got Rosie from my sister in law, she brought her to the house and said it was my Christmas present. She asked my husband if that was ok and he said it was up to me. Of course, we had the entire thing planned so it was ok with me!! ;) |
Hey, I have a yorkie who is 8 months and I pick up my second yorkie in 2 weeks today and am sooooo excited... I went to see the litter when they were 3 weeks old on my own and fell in love with Ruby then and as soon as I took pictures home to show my byfriend he was on board. I realise it will be more work and more expense however I also feel that I am doing the walks etc therefore it hopefully will not be as big a jump as going from no dog to having one lol! I am so excited and have been advsied by vets etc that just before they are a year is a great age to get a secdon as they are still really playful and you are still in puppy mode lol as in cleaning up the occassional pee and poop! Plus they have not had enough time to adjust to being just on their own althought I have my doubts about that one as Robbo is King of the house!!! LOL! Good luck! |
I agree with others on here. Two will play together, keep occupied, and learn from each other. I have 5 and I have never wished I had less. ( I have 4yorkies and an old dachshund) Oldest is 12years old going on 13 soon, and the youngest is 2 1/2 years old. They are my door bell. LOL |
