Fashionable carriers! I am 100% sure I am not the only crazy dog lady out there :D So I have full faith that you all will have great suggestions for me. I am picking up my new little one on October 23rd, and plan on bringing her EVERYWHERE with me. I am looking for a dog carrier that can also double as a cute purse but is SOMEONE reasonable in price? Seems I can't find anything that actually is rated as a GOOD dog carrier with support, cute, AND reasonably priced. I'm just looking for something under $100 to get from point A to point B with. Thanks!! |
Hi and welcome to YT. I can't recommend a good carrier but I'll warn you about one that I bought that was inexpensive. I bought it from eBay and I really liked how it looked but it has a major flaw. It's the Fly Skull carrier - the problem is that the end has velcro instead of a zipper. Darwin easily broke his way through and the clip inside didn't keep him in the carrier. Good luck with finding a good one - I'm also interested in getting one that will fit two and is secure. Oh, by the way, you are definitely NOT the only crazy dog lady! |
Have you looked at the Kwigy bo's? They are awesome, and well worth the price, I already can't remember how much I paid, but just look up RDB911, he carries them :D Good luck with your newest addition, they are fantastic little creatures! |
I got mine from Ebay although it dosnt look much like a purse (but thats not what I wanted it for anyway as its only for travelling in the car). My favourite website it petzcrazee.com they have loads of cute stuff and also have a US site called petzusa.com Heres the link to their carriers: Designer Dog Carriers Designer Pet Carrier |
Ebay is full of carriers. Petedge is a wholesale company that has some inexpensive versions. Lots of good deals here too: Designer Dog Carriers for dogs up to 8 lbs I had a Petflys and they are great for travel in car or plane. I thought it a little heavy for everyday but it is extremely well made. Celltei is another quality brand that comes in many styles. They are a little higher than what you want normally, but they always have a nie selection in the Specials section. I just checked and there are plenty for under $100 SPECIALS I just bought this bag: The Genevieve Carrier - A Chice Combination of Style | Safety | Function | Comfort from another YT member and it is really nice for both of my pups at the same time. It would probably be perfect for one 8 pound and up. I like them to have a little room so am happy with it. Very stylish! As you see it is priced around $200 but I got it here for much less. So if you check the Yorkie PRoducts for Sale forum here you can often find a great deal on designer carriers. Kwigy Bo is probably the most popular carrier now -- looks like a purse, well made and we have a couple of YT vendors that can make you a deal. I amcrazy about the Alex one and came close to getting one last week when a great deal popped up here. But, I had already bought 3 carriers in a month. I figured 4 was slipping over the edge of crazy. I have so many carriers, I really need to pare down some. I have a Juicy and a Vera Bradley that I do not use much. I also just bought the Chromebones Hobo (stealth) carrier that is perfect for a puppy or very tiny dog. That is why I wanted it. Annie is so tiny right now a full size carrier swallows her. This one is perfect and going to be her Football game bag. I have a Longaberger Carrier that I absolutely LOVE for 2 pups together. It doubles as a car seat, although they can't see out but it is safe. It also has an extendable handle and wheels like a carry-on bag. People are always wanting to knwo where to get it but it is no longer sold by Longaberger. Have to watch ebay. I have a cheap no-name carrier I bought a few years ago at TJ MAxx. I used it a LOT for the pups. So, you don't have to spend a lot. Mostly, you need to set some parameters. Do you want Airline approved? That narrows the choices. Do you want sturdy or soft and maleable? Designer or functional? There are so many choices -- you just have to find a few you like and then ask about people's experiences. Have fun and be careful, they can get oddly addictive. |

I can get the small Alex for $105 + FREE Shipping. PM if you're interested. |
Yep, I have to say that the Kwigy Bo Alex is definitely the way to go. I just bought it in gunmetal...it is G O R G E O U S!!! If I saw it in the purse section in a store, I would so buy it just for me as a purse. You'll love it. And it's only $105, so it's really close to your targeted price. You won't regret spending the money. And Ryan in the BEST person to buy from. Very fast answering any questions, and when you order, you get your bag so quickly!!! |
This is ONE of the carriers I have for Princess. I have used this one recently while traveling to/from Georgia in addition to taking her in her metal kennel for the ride. I just love this carrier I am including a link for. Princess is a small yorkie, 8 months old and weighs less than 4 lbs. right now. She has plenty of room in this carrier. She loves it and enjoys going places with me. It is very comfortable for Princess. Very well made and has a nice sherpa bottom that is also removeable for washing. I'm in the Kwigy Bo camp, too. :) I own the Alexa in black nylon. It's my go-to carrier. Personally, I like the full side pockets on both sides of the carrier. I can carry my personal belongings, and my Yorkie's supplies, too. |
Okay, so I fully agree that it is BEAUTIFUL!! I am gonna order the Alex in gunsmoke...hopefully :D |
I have two KB Alex bags and absolutely LOVE them. I say go for it... you won't regret it :D |
