My little guy has a bug in his fur.....HELP!!!! Hi Everyone.... I am in a terrible panic, :( I was brushing Lucky today and I done the routine pick through of his hair. I am not completely positive but I think I spotted a flea...:eek:Over the last couple of weeks he has been enjoying the running through grass alot! Could this be a small little bug that just hitched a ride on him or could it be a flea??!!:( :( He hasn't been scratching or biting at himself, so I am clueless!! If it's a flea how is the best way to treat it??!! Ohhh myyyy.......I am in a bad way over this!!! Any suggestions are very welcome.... Thank You Tons........ |
What did it look like? Was it long and skinny? |
It's probably just a flea. Nothing to worry about. Have you flea combed him and/or looked through his fur to try and find more (or flea dirt)? You can call the vet and ask them to set a flea preventative aside for you. |
Look on his underside and see if you can see moving black spots. Fleas should look like moles on your dog that move under his fur. |
if you are worried about fleas but you have not (or are not sure ) seen any then bath him in dawn dish soap let it sit for 5 min and rinse it out it will kill any fleas on him (i would follow that up with your regular conditioner because dish soap can be drying on the coat |
Hi ....Me again.... I had a close look around his bum area and yep it's fleas! :( So I went to Global Pet Foods and bought a flea comb and something called Zodiac Powerspot. It's applied to the back area. Anyway, I researched it after I got home to see what others had to say before I applied it to my guy. Good thing too because so far as I could read it hasn't gotten any good comments!! Needless to say it's going back to the Petstore tomorrow and I will spend the little extra to get something better!! |

A bath is dawn dishsoap will get rid of them, but will not prevent future fleas. You will also need to wash all of his bedding. |
Thanks everyone....I will be taking care of this the right way ASAP!! I am washing bedding as we speak!! lol |
