Weight of Baby and Size of Clothing... My Riley is around 5 1/2 months, now.....and is about 5 pounds. His Momma was 8.... and His Daddy was 4. I am just starting to buy clothing for him. - I went to Petco on Friday and bought him a Cute Sweater and Jacket...... in an XS. They were a Perfect Fit. I am assuming he will be gaining more and filling out more, so I went back the next day and switched them for Smalls. The Small Sweater looks okay on him, although it is a little big. The Jacket looks really Big.... - How much does your baby/babies weigh and what size are they in? - Do you know at what age they stop growing? :) |
Poppy is just over 5 months old and weighs 5lbs. It depends on where I buy her clothes from as some places are really small fitting. Sometimes she is an XS sometimes she is a S, I usually go by measurements. I dont know exactly when they stop growing but I assume its around 1 year old? Im not sure. |
It depends on the brand, etc. I never just *only* buy small or medium, etc. Jackson is 15lbs and generally speaking, he's medium. His Puppia harness is medium, most t-shirts from stores like Target, etc, are medium. But there are some brands that run realllyyy small or were only made for small dogs and he'll need, like, an "XL" or something. I go by measurements. He's about 13" long (from neck to base of tail) and 17" around his chest. Jackson was 12lbs by 6 months old and stayed 12lbs until 1 year and 2 months or so... then he went to 16lbs (but he wasn't overweight, just still growing). Now he's about 15.1lbs. |
Peanut is 3 yo and he us 4.5 lbs he wears a xsmall or small depends on who makes it. |
I would agree with what others are saying here. 1. Go by your dog's measurements, not the weight. One 6lb dog may have a completely different build than another 6lb dog. 2. Don't always assume your dog will be an XS or S. One brand may only make small dog clothes and your dog may actually be a medium or large, where as another brand may make it for all sized dogs and your dog may be a small or x-small. I highly suggest memorizing your baby's measurements and going from there. Good luck! |

Ziva is 6 1/2 lbs at 16 months- she needs a small mostly, but I have to take it in here or there. An XS is usually a little tight around the tummy and short in length. She has a 9" neck , 14"waist, neck to tail is 12". |
Zach is almost 6 months old and he wears a small. Zoe is about 12 lbs and she wears a medium. My two Basset Hounds are 50 lbs each and they are off most of the charts lol. |
