Your Dogs Pros/Cons Got this thread idea from another forum. Thought it would be fun. :D List your dogs pros/cons. Jackson's pros: + He's very very smart. Picks up tricks really fast and seems to get things even before I teach him. + He's naturally well behaved. He's the kind of dog I know I can bring out anywhere (whether it be a families/friends home, public store, park, etc) and know he's going to be alright. He's had free roam since 5 months old and I've never come home to poop, pee, or anything destroyed. He has no dog aggression, dog reactivity, etc. He's never met a dog he didn't like. + While he's very very active and can run for hours, he's not 'hyper' or 'bouncy' and does have an off switch and also enjoys to spend a rainy day curled up on the couch or on his bed. Or he's willing to sleep in 'til noon with me on weekends. But I love his spunk, activeness and athleticism. Jackson's cons: - He's wary of strangers. If he doesn't know you, he's not going to let you just come up to him and start petting him. He usually shys away but he's been becoming much more confident in general and approaching people willingly. Once he gets to know you, he loves you forever. - He can be somewhat of a follower or a copycat. For example, yesterday, my friends 2 little yorkies and Jackson were in my Jeep as we ate our take-out food... Jackson *never* barks at people that walk by the car. ever. But Nala and Bandit started barking at someone walking by and Jackson starts barking simply because they are and he has NO clue what he's barking at. LOL. He does this with my dads 2 dogs too. |
Paisley's Pros/Cons Pros ~He is SUPER smart and can learn things from other dogs doing tricks ~He is a little cuddle bug ~ <3 He is a Momma's boy <3 ~Paisley is a complete GOOF ball and can make ANYONE smile, even on a terrible day ~He knows when it is quiet time, and he knows when it is time to play. And generally doesn't confuse the two. ~He has never shown any aggression to any other animal, big or little Cons ~He barks...a lot ~His biggest con is.................the fact that he isn't a yorkie :p (I thought this was a cute idea, and had to give my two cents.) |
Hmm... let's see Kaji's pros: -Kaji is cute as a button. -I like knowing that those adorable brown eyes give him away. He's really easy to read, thus making him really easy to please. I know when he's upset and not to approach him or he might pee. -Kaji's willingness to please. I know he loves me so much, and will do anything for me. Even tricks and get only a "good boy" in return. He just loves to please! -I know this is against the standard, but... I LOVE his hair! It's so soft and he always feels like a brand new teddy bear, and looks like a puppy. He's just too cute!! -Kaji's happy dance. It always makes everyone smile. -The on and off switch, Kaji has it too. I like knowing he's on and ready for some rough and tumble play, but when I need to work on something, he's super mellow. He's just a well behaved little man and I just got so lucky with him. Kaji's cons: -Kaji's cute as a button, and he knows it! It makes him into a little con artist. -Kaji's anxiety and fear driven reactions can be unbearable. I can honestly say this is the only quality of his that I hate. (but, we're slowly working on it) |
Good thread! Pros: * (ahem) Exceptionally good looking, unique coloring. * Really a sweet little guy, extremely friendly with people. * Great hair that almost never matts. * Super portable. * A charmer! * Very food motivated, enjoys training. * Loves snuggling. * Actually a great little athlete who I can take on long hikes. * Not very smart, which means he can’t find creative ways to get into trouble. After two years, he hasn’t figured out how to steal things from the coffee table, or the trash. * Unintentionally hilarious. Cons: * Naturally NOT well behaved; impulsive. * Pretty possessive. He can't stand it if I pet another dog, and he's not crazy about me ignoring him to talk to other people either. Wants to be the center of attention. * Barky. * Scaredy dog. He is afraid of loud noises, other dogs, purses, grocery bags, his harness, etc. * His fear of other dogs often leads to socially unacceptable behavior, like snarling and lunging. We’re working on it. * Can’t entertain himself at all, and his fear of dogs means he doesn’t have doggie playmates. That means I’m responsible for 98 percent of his stimulation, which can get tiring. * It takes him a really long time to pick up commands. I think this is partly because he’s so fearful, it can be difficult for him to handle even minor distractions. Like, I can scare him if I toss a treat the wrong way. * Total chick magnet. |
Couver's Pros: -He is my little social butterfly. He loves other dogs and wants to play with every one he meets. -He too has an on/off switch. He has the energy to go on long walks and go to the dog park on some days and others he can just hang out with me at home. -He's not a beggar. He really doesn't like human food, so we can eat with him on the couch and not have any problems. -He has a very quiet bark. I don't know why, but his bark is much softer than other dogs. -He's a huge cuddler. He loves to cuddle under the blankets at night. -He's very sturdy. He is 7 lbs of muscle and I don't feel like he is fragile. -He's very much a momma's boy and just wants to be with me no matter where I am. He's happy to just ride along in his bag with me. Couver's Cons: -He dislikes people. He will bark and growl at almost every person he meets until he gets to really know them. -He goes crazy over water. If there is splashing, he goes bizerk and wants to attack it. Khloe's Pros: -She's an absolute sweetheart. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body. -She's very portable. Her size allows her to travel in the same bag as her brother. -She is very perky. She's always there to give you kisses and show you how happy she is. -She is very food motivated and will do almost anything for food. Khloe's Cons: -She is a barker. She will bark at any and everything. I think she sometimes even barks just to hear her own voice. -She's tiny. I feel like she is so fragile, so I worry about her getting hurt all the time. -She's very independent. She does not like to cuddle or even be moved from where she is laying. She has a mind of her own and does not want to be told what to do. |

Kaji's Pro: -His size. Small enough to easily be carried around, making him a great travel companion. But, he's big enough that I don't worry as much about him. He can play with the bigger dogs safely, yet can be cuddled because he's the size of a newborn baby. LOVE IT!!! |
Pros: * She's adorable. She's got those big eyes that just make me want to give her everything. * She can be very cuddly and affectionate...when she wants to be. ;) * She does very well with training. * She LOVES people, especially children. * She is very well behaved around people. * She has such a little personality. Sometimes when she looks at us we can totally tell what she's thinking. * She's the perfect size at 7.5 pounds. Not too big and not too small. * She's got gorgeous coloring. We frequently get comments from people about her coloring. * She's a good girl overall. She's only had 3 accidents in the house and she has never destroyed any furniture or touched any items she isn't supposed to. Cons: * She barks incessantly in the middle of the night when she hears or smells things outside (like a skunk). * She "begs" at the table. She sits right next to my leg and just stares at me with those big eyes while I'm eating. She moves closer and closer as the meal progresses. * When she wants to play there is no distracting or dissuading her. If you don't play she barks right in your face until you do. * She always throws up on the carpet...never on the floor, where it is easier to clean up. |
Chipper's Pros *He's very smart. & picks up tricks fast. *He gets along with our cat and other dog *He loves to cuddle with me *He loves to sit in my lap while I'm studying or on the computer just to keep me company. *He gets all excited when I get home from work or class. * he loves his tummy rubbed before he goes to sleep, and I love rubbing his tum tum lol. Chippers Cons *He is having a hard time with potty training. *He is whiner.. He whines when he wants to play, whines when he wants up on the bed, whines when he wants down off the bed, whines when he wants on the couch even though he has steps lol. Whines when I won't let him chew my fingeres off when he plays, Whines when hes doing something and I wasnt looking, whines when I put him in time out, Whines all day long lol .. I havent even heard him bark but once.. to busy whining lol He even WHINES in his SLEEP haha.. hes a whiney butt lol .. |
Remy's Pros * He is adorable and a cuddler * He has been potty trained 100% since before he was one. Our only accidents occur if / when he is not feeling well (which is rare) * He is not destructive, has never chewed or destroyed anything, anywhere * He is very adaptable and has an easy going personality. * He travels exceptionally well and loves to investigate new places * He loves to meet new dogs, and is not an 'alpha' Remy's Cons * He is exceptionally headstrong and very persistent. If he wants something he does not give up. He begins with a several fake sneezes to get your attention, sometimes a swat with a paw or poke with a nose if you are seated, will progress to a low whine / growl and eventually to a full-blown bark. It can be humorous, BUT can also be annoying when you just DO NOT want to play fetch. * He is not really food motivated, and while he is smart and knows a lot (you can have a conversation with him) he does not do many tricks. Maybe I am just a poor trainer. He sits, he lays down. He knows lots of "instructions" that he follows but he does not do many "fun" tricks. I've got to work on this LOL |
Lexi's Pros: -Has her own personality that almost makes me believe she's human. -Busy body...she has learned to entertain herself since I am sometimes busy. -So cute!!! -Loves people! -Loves to play with other small dogs. -Friendly, getting very social considering I take her to the dog park 4-5 times a week. -I love when i'm laying in bed and she comes and sleeps on my chest! she's so warm! -When she's exhausted she just curls up in a laundry basket or on the bed. -Easy to train becasuse she learns fast. -Small bundle of massive energy. -She made me instantly love her the first time I saw her. -Follows me everywhere around the house and she "usually" comes when I call her. -She's always super happy to see me when I come home. I always look forward to her wagging her tail and her jumping up and down to see me. I too want to grab her and hug her when I first come home. But I make sure she sits down quietly before I open her play pen. Cons: -She barks at me for attention even though I've given her a lot. -She knows not to pee on the carpet but sometimes I think she's too lazy to hold it or walk to her pee pad or someone in my family comes home late at night, gets her all excited and they don't take her out to pee!<- this part isn't her fault. -Odd times she'll pull the leash when we're walking just because she wants to greet someone she doens't know. -Stubborn when it comes to getting blowdried! But is pretty good with the shower part. -Loves socks in the boot tray. If you want to know where all the socks are you got to clear out under the bed. |
Pro: He's a Yorkie!!!!! Con: He's a Yorkie with a mom that loves to spoil him!!!! |
Ok, I LOVE this thread..lol.. Roxies Pros: Cute, of course! Loves me..lol Smart, and very lovable Does great with kids well behaved patient Roxies Cons Still has accidents in her crate..ick Wary of strangers Does not like being left alone at all whiny |
Ollie's Pros: -He is freakin adorable -Once he learns a trick or command, he is all over it -He smiles -He doesn't hike his leg (yet... hope he never does) -He is a good guard dog -He has a hilarious personality Ollie's cons: -He loves my shoes.... too much -He is a little slow to learn new tricks -He has an extreme case of ADD -He loves riding in the car... but he isn't a very good passenger -He is very skiddish, he scares himself when he steps on dry leaf...lol -He is a good guard dog, but barking at night drives me crazy (only when he hears something though) |
Taylor's Pros: ~He's a cutie! ~He likes to be with us everywhere and does his best to behave in said circumstances. ~Easy going and gets along with everybody. ~Is snuggly in bed and keeps you warm because he has to be right next to you, almost to the point of being on you. ~Was what kept me going when I didn't feel like doing anything during my recovery times with both of my surgeries this year. He always sat on my lap and slept with me. ~Shares between spending time with mommy and his daddy pretty equally. ~Will locate things on the floor that vacuum didn't pick up and put it in front of me like to say you missed something. ~Very observant of his surroundings. I feel safe having him with me when I'm alone or go walking. ~Understands words really well. And getting better at code words too. We can't sneak around without him figuring it out. :) His Cons: ~Ornery as a little devil at home. ~Stubborn like no tomorrow. Used to want to follow the rules at home, now he just looks at me and does a little snuff with his nose. Like he's snubbing my ideas. LOL. ~Demands alot of attention when at home. If he's not getting the 1001% attention when he wants it and how he wants it, then he barks until I say "spray". He hates his coat conditioner and all I have to do is pull out the bottle and leave it on the floor. End of story. ;) ~He's a tremendous licker. He's obsessed at the moment with fiance's feet, arms or back and drives us nuts trying to lick them constantly. He DOES take showers.. no need for assistance! ~No private time for mommy and daddy. Yes, that's right. He's the one standing nearby and barks at us. And when he decides he's had enough he lays on the couch and pouts, giving the evil stink eye when we try to get him to go to bed. (he sleeps with us) ~Tissue of any sorts that he locates on the little table next to chair, comes up missing and later found behind said reclining chair later. Again, the evil stink eye if you show him the tissue and ask if he stole it. ~Pills- he absolutely HATES them and my fingers show it on the days he's wormed, which is monthly, and so it's a given, I'm gonna lose a finger or two. LOL. He's by far the best dog my fiance' and I have ever had. He's our baby and we love him, faults or not. :) Beth and Taylor:animal36 |

If I was quicker with the camera, I would definitely share. It's hilarious. It's worse than seeing a kid sitting in a corner and glaring at someone he's mad at. :D And it gets worse when we laugh at him. LOL! Beth and Taylor:animal36 |

I can catch balls and bring them back! Handsome! Mischievous (Mom's word) Alpha, so let me be the leader --- you have little choice if we are to be friends! Cons Excuse me! I don't think so! |

This post was super cute! :animal36 |
Sophie's Pros- She is an absolute little lover with the sweetest disposition. She would never bite anyone but could possibly lick them to death:p She loves all dogs and people. Sophie is very docile with small children and lays on her belly so they can pet her to their delight. Her coat is as soft as anything you could imagine. It's like angora. Sophie is a class A snuggler. She is smart as a whip and comical, too. Sophie knows the names of all her toys and will bring you whatever you ask for even if it's outside. She travels very well on long or short trips. She always goes outside to go potty and is a fast learner. Sophie is trust worthy when left at home while we go to dinner or shopping and waits for us while looking out the window until we return. Cons- She can be pretty bossy when she wants a treat or her kong filled. She is a little barky at people walking by or other dogs out of her reach. She never met a tissue she didn't shred all over the house. The "come" command goes out of her head when she really, really wants to do something else which is scary and we're working on that one.:animal-pa |
CJ's Pros: + He is VERY smart (sometimes to smart for his own good). + He is VERY active! + He is sooooooooo cute, it's almost unbearable at times (but of course I'm biases) :p + He is VERY friendly! In fact he has to be the friendliest dog I've ever, ever had! In fact I doubt he would ever hurt a fly, more than likely run away from it! CJ's Cons: - The smallest things can scare him (although we are working on that). - He has separation anxiety (but that is being worked on as well). - He hair can mat very easily (not his fault though). - He LOVES outdoors! Honestly I think he'd rather be out there than in with me! He could be out there for hours (not necessarily a con, but call me selfish, as I would rather have him with me ;)) |
Vinnie's Pros: -Cute as a button -Super cuddly -Doesn't like to get up early -Slightly lazy -Thoughtful -Very in tune with how we are feeling (i.e., if we're sad or sick, he will sit beside us and try to make us feel better) -Independent -Very good around the house; you could leave a steak on the table and he won't touch it without permission. -Alert; if he hears any sound, he barks. While some find this annoying, I've found it to be good for alerting us to potential dangers -Best little traveling dog; I can take Vinnie anywhere and he will not have any accidents and will generally go with the flow -Hates children (yep, for us that's a pro!) Vinnie's Cons: -Not very friendly towards other people -Does not like people coming into our house -Territorial at times -Not very well socialized with other dogs. Doesn't really know how to play with other dogs. Alex's Pros: -Super well-behaved -Goes with the flow -Good with other people and dogs -Funny, funny, funny. He's hilarious! -Very playful Alex's Cons: -Can be very stubborn -Nosey; always into whatever is going on at the moment. |
Tinks Pros She is adorable She has never met a person she doesn't love. She loves to play with other dogs She is an excellent walker, never pulls on the leash She has endless energy She is quiet. She only barks when playing or if she see's something strange. She is pretty well mannered and I can take her anywhere She was a fast learner and is completely housebroken at 6 months She loves to cuddle She contorts, twists, wiggles, and shakes her body whenever I come home even if I have only been gone 30 minutes. Tinks Cons She plays rough (My dh's fault) we are working on it. She is an early riser even on the weekends. Got to fix this... She can be persistent when she thinks it is play time.. She can be a little timid around very small children. Working on this. |
Taycie's Pros: * She is my Best Friend! I am single so that little girl goes everywhere with me even work! We are attached at the hip! I don't know where I would be without her, it's definently not lonely anymore that is for sure:) * EXCELLENT with Potty Training. Potty trained by 3.5 months! I have hardly had any accidents. *Pleaser... she HATES to be in trouble! Even if my tone changes slightly she gets upset. *She is ADORABLE! She has the sweetest little face! *LOVES children! Goes crazy when she sees them! seriously obsessed! *Loves the outdoors. If Taycie could stay outside 24/7 she would be in heaven! * Loves to snuggle with me.. Has slept in my bed from day one! * Follows me everywhere I go! Even into the bathroom..hmmm:) * So far.. not a picky eater! Loves her food and treats! * Has a heart of gold! * Loves to ride in the car! * EXTREMLEY SMART! Very easy to train! * Loves dogs and cats! Kittys are her favorite:) Taycie's Cons * Is a Sassy little YAPPER:(... barks at every noise, every new dog.. even an occasional stranger.. we are working on this. * is a door lunger.. I am constantly checking to see where she is when I go out the door.. SCARES ME TO DEATH! * Chases cars... I noticed she would do this while we are on walks... another big thing we are working on * Pouts when she feels she needs more attention even makes me feel like she is depressed. * HATES anything to do with grooming... brushing, teeth.. and especially BATHS!... will start shaking when the water runs.. * Early riser... enough said:) |
Levi's Pros -He is stinkin' adorable. His little face and those brown eyes just make me melt! -He is sooooo friendly to everyone. He loves literally every child, adult, dog, cat, etc. that he has ever met -He has never shown the tiniest bit of aggression. -He wants to play all the time. He walks up to me with a toy in his mouth and cocks his head to the side like, "you wanna play?!" Levi's Cons -He wasn't disciplined in his first home, so it has been a lot of work for him to learn the basics. We've had to work on everything from potty manners to basic obedience commands. -He can be kind of overly clingy. He whimpers and cries if he is alone in a room (which he usually isn't, but when I was moving and we kept him in my bedroom while moving boxes in and out, his crying was pretty bad) |
Great thread! Farrah pros: She's cute...saves her every time. She is friendly to all people and animals She doesn't chew things she isn't supposed to She is a quiet girl She is independent Farrah's cons: She is independent : ) She is a dirty girl She will pee in the house She will poo on the pee pad and then dump her bed on top of it. She steals sox And she too, doesn't know that I don't want to get up at 6:30 on the weekends Uh, Oh...The cons outweigh the pros...what to do. |

Sounds like the only option is to give her up! Don't worry, she can come live with me. ;) |
Cute thread. I make some of my decisions this way. This should be interesting. (: Khloe Pros * officially 100% housebroken. Yayy! * awesome with people, kids, and most other dogs. * has an on/off switch as well, and never acts too spunky at the wrong times. * has learned some basic commands (sit, lay down, stay, give kisses, give me 5, go to your bed). * is trusted with all my major secrets that I randomly tell her. * shows her love and gratefulness. * travels well. * loves to be groomed. * earns her keep in the pest control management dept., as she kills the big, nasty crickets and grasshoppers if they manage to get in. Cons * will scare me at night by barking at her reflection in the door (my husband works some nights). * begs for food, and will terrorize us until we give in (working on this). "If Mom says no, ask Daddy." (: * does not like to be left alone when I go to non-pet friendly places. * goes through my handbag and travel bag. will destroy anything from receipts to panties. |
