Rescued a Yorkie... I havent posted in a bit...sorry :( Between home schooling, kids, husband, Riley and the list goes on....lol. I wanted to come here for some support! Riley is our Maltese and he is a year old. He is MY dog ha ha. I love him to pieces...well anyhow...there was an elderly lady not far from us that "raised" several breed of dog. Yorkie happened to be one. Well...she died last March or so and her husband had been taking care of the dogs. We discovered that she had as many as 30 one time. So...the grandson is friends with my daughter and told her that his grandfather was giving this little 6 year old girl away. First of all, I have never rescued a dog, I purchased Riley from a reputable breeder. I feel so badly for this little girl. She was one of the breeder girls I guess and is in heat right now! She has touched our hearts so much. I do know that the dogs were taken to the vet, because she used the same one as I do. We bathed her tonight, put a little bow in her hair, and are just trying to love her. I told my daughter who is 15, that I bet she had never had her own "spa" day! Her hair is cut short except around her ears that stand straight up lol Riley is doing really well with her, the usual sniffing and such. I just hope that she can handle the adjustment. Any advice is certainly welcomed, Im going to call the vet Monday to make sure she is up on shots, as they told me she was and again, they use the same vet as me, so we shall see. Thanks for readin! Take a look at this great article. The title might be deceiving but it is full of really good advice and suggestions. Thank you for taking this little girl in and giving her a loving home. You will not be sorry....the love she will give back to you will be amazing! :) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ll-rescue.html |
Good for you....please post pics. Would love to see your new addition. |
That is so great you took her in. Poor baby. I bet she was in heaven during her spa day. She probably has never had so much attention. |

Thanks so much! She has this really horrible "gunk" build up on her left eye, kinda like Riley has but its just really built up and Im not sure what the world to do?! We bathed her and I washed her face with a warm washcloth to try to soften it but its really huge...any ideas? Thanks! Kelly |

It is so great that you have been able to take her in. Lots of luck to you both. |
Awwww, she's adorable...I never thought I'd have a rescue, as both mine are registered yorkies, from breeders...However, a little chorkie came into world, and I couldn't part w/her...She's such an additional delight to our home, and completes (I hope lol) our little family...God bless you for taking this little girl into your home...You have become her guardian angel. for sure! :big_hug: |
God bless you for rescueing her .... she is adorable. She will settle in with time, she is probably in the "observation" mode right now. After she surveys the situation and sees that she is in a wonderful place, she will just become one of the family! It is amazing what lots and lots of love will do for her.:thumbup: |
They look very comfortable with each other on the couch |
Thanks everyone for the encouragement and the advice! She is doing well this morning, Im concerned about potty training, she p'd the floor last night but we are continuously taking her out and when we do, she does her business out there, well she hasnt pooped yet, but it will come Im sure. As for her stuff in the corner of her eye lol I didnt know what to call it except for gunk, Im assuming its where her tears have caused this. Shes a real sweet little girl. I have lots of hope for her! Kelly |
