FABULOUS Craigslist find!! Before/After Pics of the Dog Closet I refinished :) 4 Attachment(s) I found this "baby armoire" on Craigslist. The ad was for a garage sale and had a pic of the closet. I saw the potential immediately. I went to the garage sale early and pretended I wasn't interested in it, even though I went there knowing I was going to buy it :). I asked how much they wanted for it and they said $60. I walked away and kept browsing, acting uninterested. I came back to it and offered them $20, saying that it was really scratched up and needed a lot of work (it was actually not that bad and the entire thing is SOLID wood- absolutely no particle board). And they took $20! I was overjoyed! It definitely had lots of potential. So I went to Home Depot and picked up some sandpaper for my hubby's power sander, a beautiful black ebony stain, and all new brushed stainless steel hardware for around $40. Later I added another closet rod for $7. I got the wicker baskets at Ross for $10. I am still searching for some little hooks to put on the insides of the doors to hang leashes, harnesses, and collars. I am so glad I stained it instead of painting it because it has such a beautiful dark color with wood grain showing through. I LOVE this closet! I searched for months for something to put Zoe's clothes in , but everything I found was either too small or too expensive. I am really happy with how it turned out and it really wasn't that much work. I had a lot of fun customizing it and learning how to refinish. So here are the before and after pics: |
Very nice - I think it looks beautiful the way you refinished it. |
Looks amazing! Makes me want to go around this weekend and look for great finds at local yard sales. |
This came out fantastic! What a beautiful piece of furniture you now have -- looks nothing like the original so you certainly had a nice vision. I love the little baskets and the animal print linings - they go so well with the ebony stain and the stainless hardware. Great job! |
Closet I am so jealous, I love making things myself also, but that is one great job to be proud of woohoo way to go |
great job! Love how you finished it along with our accessories. And love all the contents. lol |
Wow...you did a great job - I love it! And, just think of the money you saved and you now have a beautiful piece of furniture for a fraction of the price other pieces cost.....you rocked it! Lately I've seen on our Craigslist someone is taking old end tables - like octagon shapes with those doors on them. They remove the door, paint them, add a dog bed pillow type thing on the shelf inside and are selling them as "fancy dogs beds" for $100+.....and you know these are tables they are picking up at garage sale for almost nothing...but they are so nice and different. |
Love that!! |
What great work! |
LOVE IT!!! Peggy, Monkey & Maddie :daisy: |
What a lucky find, it's beautiful:) |
That's gorgeous!!!! I want one for London! Your dog has more clothes than I do, lol. |
Very nice! You did a great job with refinishing and converting this to organize your little ones clothes, etc. This has inspired me to re-purpose a few furniture pieces in our house, instead of selling them for barely nothing. |
You did a great job! I can't believe how many clothes she has!:) |
