Brooklyn is getting spayed on Monday Hello all. Brooklyn is scheduled to be spayed on Monday 10/11. She's 5.5 months old and about 6lbs already . So far she's very healthy, up to date on all her vaccinations, flea preventative, and heart worm preventative. Here's my question. I've read where people wait until the baby teeth fall out to get their puppy spayed. Is that so that if the vet has to pull some he can do it while the pup is already under anesthesia or is there some other reason? She isn't my first dog or first spay but she is my first yorkie and I just wanted to know if there's any additional special things I should know. Thanks in advance. |
HI...I love Brooklyn's name! I had Duchess spayed when she was six months. The Vet removed two teeth while she was under...(I was told they should have fallen out...and the adult teeth were growing in already). I was given the choice of having them removed that day to avoid another charge for having her put under again. I was instructed to feed her wet food for a day or two after the procedure. When I took her home she was out of it for the night. The next day she was back to herself. The Vet even gave me her teeth to keep. It was a lot to take in at one time- to say the least. Good luck to Brooklyn. |
