So I havent been on here for a long time. I have been very busy with moving and tring to find a new job. I just wanted to post to get some opinions about some information I have recently found out.

Just as a reminder of my situation, I bought my girl Alice from sweetyorkiekisses.com. She had giardia and coccidia when i got her and the breeder refused to help pay for her medical bills. Alice almost died when I got her as well. she has been on medications and still has signs of giardia. anyways, so i went to a new vet today because I just moved and I found out that alice has a umbilical cord hernia as well as Luxating Patella (stage 2). Alice will get the umbilical cord hernia fixed with her spay thats comming up, but I was wondering if this could have been avoided by the breeder.

I'm also kind of upset because I asked my old vet about the bulgde on her stomach a long time ago and they told me it was nothing. But my new vet felt it immediatly without me saying anything. she also could feel the knee problem and recomended me to an orthopedic surgeon. I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me and what to do. also if the breeder could be responsible for the hernia. Also, the vet said I should get her knee fixed within the next year or she will get aurthritus (sp?). how much does this percedure normally cost? Alice is almost 5 months old and she has been through so much. I'm so happy for all the adivce I got last time I was here. Everyone has so much information to give so thats why i'm turning here first.

Oh, the poor little sweetie. I have no advice but will definitely keep her in our prayers. Let us know how she is doing!!!

Poor little Alice :(. At least she got really lucky and has a great mom like you! I'm not sure if you looked into it, but California has a puppy lemon law that may hold the breeder liable for her congenital conditions. Here's a link:

Ive looked into. thanks for the post. Ive asked the breeder for help with the giardia and coccidia, but no go. she said i could breed alice and get compensation from the profits of the puppies. i thought it i was ridculous so i gave up. i guess i'm just not sure if the issues that i learned about today have a relation to her poor breeding. not just a paracite but actual neglect for the health of the parents of alice. that way i guess i would have somthing stronger to put fourth as her being responsible for my poor girl being so sick. oh well i guess. i will do everything in my power to get alice all the help and treatment she needs.

does anyone else have experience with LP in a puppy less then 5 months old, as well as the hernia issues?

Poor Alice and good luck to you. I know you will do everything possible for Alice. It breaks my heart to know she's in pain.

My best friends Maltese has lp stage 2 and has had since he was at least 7 weeks old he lived a pretty good life but now at 12 he dose have really bad arthritis. but he can still go for 15 min walks if he is given his medication regularly.

thats so sad. i'm glad he at leaste has medicine to help the the pain. my vey said surgery would help prevent bad arthritis but ive looked it up and it does cost around 2000$. :[ i'm having a hard time finding a new job since my last layed me off.
