I agree that citronella spray or bark deterrents are not going to stop an aggressive dog from attacking. I would not want to take a chance with my dogs lives! I am going to look at reviews for different dog pepper sprays and hopefully find one I can attach to their leashes. When it comes down to it, I would rather them get a little spray in their eyes if it saves them from being attacked. |
This is the one I carry. It is made for dogs and doesn't cause any permanent damage. It's small and can clip on your belt. ![]() |
Thanks everyone. There have been some great suggestions. I guess I'll be buying something to carry along. |
I just bought a couple of these. Sabre is the brand carried by the police, and it is the brand of the huge can that hubby brought home for me. Halt is good, too. I have an ex that had to carry it and use in on dogs, but I bought the Sabre because it looked like it would easily clip to the leash. ![]() |
I would rather buy a dog spray then use pepper spray and take the chance of hurting my own dogs or myself. |
Dog spray IS pepper spray. Same stuff. |
You could always buy a cattle prod Hot Shot Yellow Handle Cattle Animal Prod NEW 22" shaft - eBay (item 260660126899 end time Nov-03-10 10:57:16 PDT) :grin2: I actually know someone who rescues big dogs but weighs about 90 pounds herself, and she does keep one and uses it to break up dog fights. |

If you're talking about big dogs, look at a stun gun. |
I have been told that wasp spray is a good thing to carrry with you to use in case of any kind of attack as it sprays about 20 feet, so you don't have to get real close to the attacker. |
