Can you use a hairdryer on a yorkie? Would it be ok to use a hairdryer on a yorkie after you bathe them??? Would it dry out there skin? is it safe? is it too hot? etc. HELP! I need to know what other options I have after I bathe her. |
I use a hair dryer to dry Poppy. She was frightened of the noise at first but not now, just make sure you reassure her and tell her how good she is. I keep the temperature on warm so its not too hot and just make sure you dont get the hair dryer too close to her. I recommend getting someone to hold her while you dry her as they will be able to tell you if it feels a little hot. |
i use a hairdryer. they come out so much better too |
You can use a hairdryer but do not leave the heat on her in one place and don't put the heat too high. I also let Keoki dry off for a bit himself to give him a break and make it a good experience. I rub him the whole time I am drying him :) So he doesn't mind it. |
Yeah it really helps if you have a dryer with lots of settings. I always set mine to "Low" and also down from "Hot" to "Warm" Hey while on the topic my dryer has an "ionic" and "ceramic" setting, does anyone one know which is better to use on our babies? I've been using "ionic" cause that's what I use on myself. |
i use a hair dryer that has a cold setting, but i do not like it i think he is softer if i do not but in the winter i will have to cave because he can not be cold for that long |
I use a hairdryer on both Charlie and Natalie. I keep the setting on warm and rub them the whole time. Charlie still don't care for it but Natalie is ok with it. they both bury their heads in the crook of my arm when I'm trying to dry their heads. It is so funny! |
Not only is okay, you should use a hair dryer to get a yorkie dry after baths. By drying it helps to keep their coat clean, dirt and oil are attracted to a wet coat. |
Mine love the hairdryer. I sit on the floor and they both come between my legs and sit. Iz lays down and buries her head, but Moses sits up big and move his head from side to side. After the bath, they run around for a few minutes and then THEY run back to the bathroom, cause they know that's where the hairdryer is. They will even come in when I am drying my own hair, so I let it blow on them. |
I use a hairdryer on Pixie all the time. I use it on warm and keep the hair dryer moving and fluff her hair at the same time. |
I use the hairdryer on low on Cody all the time. He loves it; in fact after his bath, he runs to bathroom and jumps on the toilet seat waiting for the blowdryer. It's funny because when we had cats they'd run under the bed at the first sight of a blowdryer. |
I can't imagine not using a hairdryer! I have mine on a stand so I can brush at the same time. Just make sure it has a low heat setting so he doesn't get burned. |

 I totally agree! Plus, I notice if I let mine "air dry" they smell like dogs. I never realized it until we visited my mom one day and even though all three had had baths a few days prior, she said "Why do they smell like dogs?" -- sheesh she got spoiled and forgets her stinky german shepherd! LOL I have a professional type hair dryer that cuts the drying time out and is quieter than a typical hair dryer. It also has a "medium" heat setting that is perfect for the babies. My Barney loves the hair dryer and tries to jump up onto the bathroom counter when he sees it and loves to sit there and get pampered. Daisy likes the hair dryer until it comes to her face. Teddy prefers to be on the floor and walk into and out of the stream of the hair dryer at his own leisure and believe it or not he loves to stick his face head on at the warm stream of air. |
I use a hair dryer and keep my hand between it and the hair. Like a diffuser. This way I know if I am to close or it is to hot. Always blow dry them at least half way (summer). |
Mine cannot stand the hair dryer, she full out attacks it! Im surprised she didnt knock out her teeth trying to bite it. My maltese on the other hand loves it, it makes them both fluffy. |
