Just remember your puppy will probably be with you for around 15 years or more, so don't rush into anything. |

Have you looked to see if there are any shows in your area? That's a great way to connect with local breeders and lots of fun, too! InfoDog AKC Dog Show Information - Search by State |
I am having the worst time with this. Living in northern California is of great disadvantage to southern California when it comes to pups. I will start looking down there, but that presents a problem for viewing pup. I am about 4-5 away from the bay area and even that is still northern California. It is a sad thing when price is not my issue it is finding good breeders that are trust worthy. |
We have been raising Yorkies for 28 years and we would never let a Yorkie go until it is 12 weeks old. The super tiny ones are kept 4 weeks longer to ensure total health. You have to be very careful of hypoglycaemias in a toy breed. The younger they are the more risk is involved. |

Another option is flying to pick up a puppy yourself. |
You've gotten some awesome advice so far. I really think you should keep looking. You are obviously doing your research and looking for the perfect Yorkie puppy, but I really don't think you will find her at this breeder. There are so many red flags about the breeder that you should run already. One more thing I want to mention is that if you want a close-to-perfect Yorkie, you don't want to buy from a breeder who has an unplanned litter. I'd never buy from a breeder who breeds that way - they should research bloodlines, pedigrees, etc. to improve the breed. If shipping a puppy from a reputable breeder is your only option, I say go for it! You are obviously doing enough research to find a reliable and reputable breeder who will keep to her word. Shipping can be a fantastic option if you don't have reputable breeders near you. Just be patient and keep looking :) I bought my first yorkie on a whim and although I love him dearly, he has so many issues! Then I spent 2 years looking for June and I finally found the perfect puppy! It's worth the wait, believe me. |
Full registration without asking you any questions and letting a puppy go at such a young age, does NOT sound like a reputable breeder! I agree with the advice given, don't rush your decision. I know how exciting it is to want a Yorkie, but you do want to make the right choice and it will be worth your wait! |
Thank you guys, I will definitely be looking into getting a little girl shipped, or taking a slight trip. I really do appreciate all the help everybody was willing to give, and the thoughtful options. I will keep everybody updated. If anybody has recommendations feel free to message me. Thanks again all :-) |

I am calling places around me now, and I am pretty sure I am annoying a lot of them because I have a giant list of questions, but oh well. I am still checking this lady out, I have not gotten a reply e-mail but I am waiting... I found a couple breeders around here, but some can not even answer my questions. My husbands boss has a couple yorkies both show quality so my husband is going to talk to him and have him give me a call... |

If you want a Yorkie puppy who will grow up to look like a Yorkie is supposed to, go to a show breeder. This is great article written by a Maltese breeder that explains it well. Maltese Show Dog Versus Maltese Pet.....What is the difference? |
I am still waiting to talk to him. Darren (The boss) said he paid 3,000 per pup, he has 3, and that his wife spent 2 years searching for the right ones. I will be sure to post pictures of any potential puppy I get and the damn and sire because I really appreciate the input here, and want opinions. Because all in all, I do want a great representation of the breed. |

Many backyard breeders and other breeders who do not show and just breed pet quality Yorkies charge as much as show breeders. If you want a great representation of the breed, I'd stick with the YTCA list which can lead you to other lesser known show breeders. There are lots of California breeders on the YTCA list and two from Nevada. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club You might want to contact Mary (YT name Mardelin). She is in S. California which I know is far from you, but I bet she could recommend some breeders to contact. Mary is very, very helpful - a real asset to YT! |

2 Attachment(s) I contacted a breeder here, her name is Maria, here are the parents and the baby girl...what do you all think? |
Pictures look adorable - but you can't tell from pics. Need to know more about the breeder, health guarantees etc. |

I did, I e-mailed her a huuuge list of questions. Yet to respond but she said I am free to stop by and see the mother/father/puppies. There is a picture of the puppy I want in an album, the photo was too large to post on here... |
So, the original lady I was talking to called me out of nowhere today trying to get me convinced to buy her puppy. Well I started asking more questions and she told me her damn weighed 11 lbs and the sire was 9! The puppy will be 8 weeks tomorrow and is already 3 lbs! What...? I calmly and politely told her I was not interested, and felt rude, still. I wanted to ask her why she would even breed them but instead decided to shut my mouth and keep the peace... |

Anyway, I'm glad to see a potential yorkie owner doing their homework. I hope you find your perfect baby girl soon. :D |
I know, it does suck. Yet everybody else thinks it would be so nice to be as small as me so that they could fit into everything...but the harsh reality is quite the opposite lol Hey--shoes are much cheaper. Vans run $42 and I usually manage to only pay $20 because they are childrens lol Turns out I have to do a lot of homework. Finding my Furkid is harder than my college studies! Yikes. But both will pay off. |

Same here, because it is not like they make many heels in small sizes. So sad :( |

Thank you :-) Yes there are quite a few of them. Good news is they are not very well educated on what they think they are doing so it is REALLY easy to weed them out. |
